(VAN/NYI) - Horvat for Beauvillier, Räty, conditional 1st
Vancouver did surprisingly well here, even with the pick protection.
New York… not so much, and the fit is weird. They better hope they can make the playoffs to convince Horvat to sign an extension.
Edit: It's also hilarious that Lou Lamoriello is the one who traded the 9 OA pick that became Horvat in 2013.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sporkknife</b></div><div>I respect where your head is at with the patience, but at the end of the day the owners and the results will be the judge. Should Drury be fired and blackballed for trading a first for Copp?</div></div>
The NYR have only 1 Cup in 80 years- largely due to a history of short sighted "win now" moves. I'm not sure NY franchise owners really want to win...what they really want is a certain "buzz" about their team which leads to fan and corporate interest. I'll never forget in 1995 NY Jet ownership proclaiming "I want to win and I want to win now" as he hired Rich Kotite- then won 3 or 4 games over the next 2 years!
Getting back to hockey- there really is no "win now" formula. Too many pieces are required and too much chemistry is needed to grind through the season AND playoffs. So to burn through more picks and prospects to land a stud player's services for 1 year is just foolish- especially since still a Cup victory is a long shot. As far as the Copp trade- when that trade was made my 1st thought was that Drury better have a plan to extend him because they gave up a ton. Problem is- he worked out so well he might have priced himself out of Drury's plan (if he had one). So no- I wouldn't fire him for that- but that should be the last of this type trade he makes.

No, Minnesota still declines. Guerin isn't interested in trading for rentals, so no. Ge doesn't like giving 1st round pick or prospects for rentals

I agree that any team trading for Miller likely does so with an eye to resign him. I mentioned in the preamble that i felt it would make sense for Minny to resign him. he's around the age of brodin. I think it's risky to peeve kaprizov by relying only on the prospects for the next few years</div></div>
It would make sense to resign Miller but they simply can't with how tight the money is

The Canucks already declined that trade offer IRL. They aren’t going to settle for that

I mean this is pretty much Garland. Play driving is accurate. Smart, aggressive and "never-give-up-attitude" are also good descriptors.

There is probably no chance Winnipeg trades Scheifele for an LD they don't need that has a bad contract and a struggling, low end left shot center they don't need.

I like this. Florida pays way too much and MTL can donk all the picks meaning both could lose.
But seriously Chiarot is bad and this is too much for a 3rd pair guy

People tried to deny it as much as they could, but Chiarot was definitely going to fetch a 1st.
It was a heck of a three years, Big Ben, the most polarizing defenseman in Habs recent memory. Eye-test people loved him, analytics people hated him. Truth is, you will be missed in Montréal.
Florida just became even more dangerous for the playoffs.
