Isles have around 4 maybe 5 years to win a cup before we probs see a performance dip

They got 14mill in cap space (factoring a bailey move) so lets see

Lou took the words right out of my mouth. Atleast they didn't move Raty and Beau for a rental 🤷‍♂️

Hindsight is 20/20. In a few years this could end up being either a meh contract, or a good one. Hopefully with the cap going up, this will end up being like a 6 million deal today.

This was kinda a lose-lose for the Isles. I love Bo but he's definitely not worth anything close to 8

A good signing is not enough to justify a bad trade.

Also, the funny thing for the Isles is that Pageau and Cizikas are now their #4 and #5 centres respectively.

After Barzal, Horvat and Nelson.

Somebody will have to be moved out.

Probably would be better if it was a shorter term or less AAV. With both of these? Feels like it's too big a deal. Those last couple of years may really hurt the Isles.

Before he ever played a game for them? This has a massive risk potential. This year is an anomaly compared to prior years in terms of production so if he regresses to his usual output then this is a terrible contract, especially since it runs until he's 36.

It makes the trade on the Islanders side much better but it's not a good look for the general manager who just signed it to come out and criticize it.

Now I'm wondering how many picks are they going to have to give up to get rid of Bailey's or Palmeri's contract.

You pay premiums for faceoff centers that can play all 200 ft and shoot. It’s not a “steal” of a contract, but it’s worth it.

Lou obviously doesn't give a crap about the long term outlook of the deal, but it's gonna be a headache for whoever takes over once Lou retires or dies.

Also damn Tim Stützle's contract is such a robbery

For a 23 player roster, the Islanders can invest roughly 1.15 million per player next season. It's not that dire of situation considering they don't have any major RFAs coming up, but it's not a great place to be in if you want to add anyone significant in FA.

Zibanejad signed a similar contract one year ago, I would take him before Horvat anyday of the week with that contract. Not a bad contract, but not a steal either. 7-8M$ would have been better considering the contract finishes when he is 35 years old.
