Fair Jones Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>deys3232</b></div><div>Yes I have, Ive watch a ton of Jones heres what I learned from analysing ONLY Jones and completely ignoring everything else on the ice
-He allows everyone to enter the zone
-He is big and hits in corners
-He does not break up passes/allows everyone to make plays
-He is always scrambling in the D-Zone and happens to get a ton of blocks because he is always scrambling
-He has a great skater who is good in transition/bringing the puck up the ice
-He lets Werenski create offense. Hes very passive offensively, occasionally using his big shot to take a slapper set up by a team mate
-Chills at the blueline and looks like he is doing something</div></div>
Well I guess one of my two earlier statements does hold true then, huh

Fair Jones Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>I don't know about the Holl thing, but he is right in that Jones is by far the most overrated Dman in the league. He is the king of doing stuff that looks really good on the surface but ultimately leads to nothing. It is no coincidence that all of the Leafs offense in their series came when he was on the ice. Both a careful eye test and analytics support this.</div></div>
Watching that Toronto vs Columbus series I had the exact opposite impression. He does little things defensively that are tough to notice, but are what make him so tough to play against. Really smart, played against the Leafs top players, and just seems so calm and composed on the backend, and never makes defensive errors.

Someone obviously hasn't watched Jones play, or if you have and legitimately think he's as good as Holl you need to rethink you're ability to discern what makes a player impactful

A lot of deadline trades
A no from the Caps, we're set for forwards and need to keep our younger, cheaper defensemen like Siegenthaler. I also don't think 1 year of Palmieri is worth a 1st and two NHL level defensemen.

You’re thinking of the other Jensen, this Nick Jensen is a defenseman, a good skater, solid defensively and was one of the only players that played well in the playoffs for the Caps this year.
Leason would be tough to let go, but Virtanen really fits the Caps style imo. I’d be willing to do that, especially since we signed Schultz this offseason and we have Fehervary NHL ready.

And it's not like Niskanen was on the Caps last year, so it isn't a recent loss like the poster insinuated. He retired with Philly.

Ovi will probably get a small raise based off of recent rumours of his asking price. Maybe 10-10.5. Also I doubt the cap goes up, it probably stays stagnant for the 2021-22 season as well. I expect either Oshie or Schultz will get taken by Seattle, so that would help our cap situation at least.

The value is closer but still not there. It just doesn't make sense for the Caps anyways, even if it was Sandin and a 1st, the Caps are in win now mode and Vrana is a top 6 forward for them who (at the moment) is cheap. Trading Vrana hinders their chances of another cup when there is only a couple more years left of contention with Ovi and Backstrom.

Vegas was in a MUCH more desperate situation where they had to get rid of cap space somehow. Caps aren’t in that dire of a situation, at least not yet. GMs easily take advantage of those teams that need to quickly shed cap, like Vancouver did with Vegas.

Wow two different bad trades with the same player lol. You don't get Oshie for a 3rd liner and a depth forward and then get to trade him away for a ridiculous amount of future picks + a player that just signed with MTL.

McMichael is NHL ready, I don't think Leason is though. Played a limited role with Hershey last season, he needs to develop further in the AHL and improve his consistency. Maybe by 21-22 though.

Grab Tanev and use McMichael and Leason
I like the look of the team, I just don't think we have enough cap room to sign Tanev, just judging on the cap staying flat for a couple years and Ovi, Vrana and Sammy have to get signed next offseason. Also, I don't think Leason is ready for the NHL. Played a limited role with Hershey in 19-20, but he'll get more chances and ice time with them next season (if it ever happens), and we'll see how he progresses offensively.

Mantha Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bobthebuilder</b></div><div>The caps trade - so DD is not a bottom pairing defenseman and looking at Radko Gudas, Dillon and Jonas whats his nuts, DD is certainly an upgrade, your window is closing, so your team needs to do something and take advantage of the few years you have left...as far as McMichael goes, he may be good or he may not be, we wont know for a few years, by then the Caps will be drafting in the top 10 again...</div></div>
I don't think you know enough about the Caps situation to even attempt to reason why this trade makes sense for them. Gudas is gone and likely so is Dillon to free agency, and even if we don't pick up another defenseman we have Carlson, Kempny, Orlov, Jensen, Siegenthaler and Fehervary who are all NHL players. McMichael was with the team through the playoffs this year as a 19 year old. He will be an NHL player, I'd guess he plays games for the Caps this season. Why would we trade away by far our best prospect for Dekeyser. It makes zero sense, even if you ignore how lopsided the trade is value wise, the Caps can't even take on that much salary cap for two years. We need to re-sign Ovi, Vrana and Samsonov next offseason.

I'm guessing that caps trade is a joke right? A top 25 prospect in the world right now in McMichael for a bottom pairing, aging defenseman who's struggled with injuries. Yeah I don't think that happens.
