I don't think there's any way you could get all those assets for Nylander.

Have you watched him play at all for us in the last couple years? He's learned a lot from Kuznetsov it seems, his puck carrying ability is waaay better than it was when he first got here, and he's become more involved in offensive plays. The reason everyone is saying he can play 2C is because when either Backstrom or Kuznetsov is injured, throughout his tenure with the Caps, he's about a point per game player while playing on the 2nd line. I mean look at his point totals from the 18' cup run, 18 points in 24 games, playing 2C when Backstrom was injured in the second round against the pens. So he can easily and successfully play 2C on a good caps team that went on to win a cup.

Caps definitely wouldn't do that. We're so cap-strapped that even though it'd be awesome to have Beagle back, it could affect signing Ovi and Vrana next year. Also a pick definitely wouldn't be going Vancouver's way.

Why would the Capitals do that trade? We have maybe two years left of being contenders, and without Carlson that time frame virtually evaporates. Not good enough value-wise anyways.

Wilson is close to untradeable for the caps, this definitely doesn't get you him. We have enough skilled players in the top 6 anyways, way better to have Wilson on the top line as a complimentary physical player than yet another skilled but less hard working player in Nylander. Definitely not adding a 1st and 2nd when we desperately need to stock pile higher end prospects as well.

All of these are your opinions, not facts lol. "Eller is only going down from here." How is that anything other than an opinion. You literally said "in my opinion" on the Carlson take. Oshie is still on the 2nd line, so just untrue, Orlov's best season can be debated upon, maybe 17-18, maybe 19-20 but definitely not an outright fact. Many people think Carlson is the front runner. Backstrom is playing both 1st and 2nd line, since Kuznetsov usually works better with Ovi and WIlson, has nothing to do with Backstrom not being as good of a player.

Backstrom is no longer a top 3 playmaker in the NHL. hes not even on Ovi's line anymore and hes signed for too much for too long
I'll give you the Holtby one
Oshie isnt getting better and hes now on the 3rd line, playing with 3rd liners, but hes paid like hes a top liner
Orlov's best season was 17-18 where he was insane
Carlson isnt the front runner for the Norris, Josi is. Carlson shouldnt even be top 3 imo
Eller is only going down from here</div></div>
Oshie has played on the 2nd line for his entire Capitals career, including this season. That is just a blatant lie. You are running off of a confirmation bias right from the start. How about looking at this without the lens of 'well they must be declining,' and then trying to find proof of that even when there is none. Could there not be other factors? Maybe a coach that didn't necessarily inspire them? Maybe an older team that misses their families and children while being in the bubble? We'll see how they do next year, I fully expect them to make the playoffs and compete for the cup again.

Its better to go into a rebuild now than end up getting stuck where San Jose is. Ovi, Backstrom, Oshie, Holtby, Carlson, Orlov, Kuznetsov and Eller are all declining. Its better to trade some of them now than wait and have them end up becoming terrible contracts</div></div>
The only players out of the ones you listed that are declining are Ovi and Backy, and Ovi is still one of the best goal scorers and Backstrom is still a 1st/2nd line center. Carlson is 30, Kuzy is 28, Orlov is 29 and Eller is 31. You think those guys are declining? Carlson and Eller had career years. Oshie is 33 but still put up the same numbers as he has since he was 26. Better players who are 28-31 generally do not decline.

Nope Vanecek would be the backup, if they don't sign another goalie. Vanecek likely gets the NHL backup role and Copley stays in the minors as the starter. Could be Copley going up, but right now with Samsonov injured the Caps have went with Vanecek as their backup instead of Copley.

Yeah very true I didn't really word that well, he is physical, but when defending in our zone he uses his stick and his positioning, rather than an in-your-face style of more physical defending (like Orlov and Kempny prefer)

For Fehervary: A great skater, has a great stick and is a patient defender, isn't overly physical but has a high hockey IQ. Will definitely be an NHL defenseman, probably second pairing type guy, who can PK and be a complimentary guy for a more offensively-minded defenseman (maybe paired with Carlson in the future). He will never rack up that many points, since he doesn't really drive forward and join the rush all that much, but he's really solid defensively, has pretty good puck skills and a great first pass.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AllCaps_BestTeam</b></div><div>As far as McMichael -> you do not want to rush a prospect to the NHL. He has no NHL experience (no AHL experience either). The report on him is that he lacks consistency. Say he has a bad few games, that could ruin a player's confidence. Why rush when you have other options...?</div></div>
I've personally never heard consistency ever being an issue with McMichael, watching him play games in the OHL this year he's always looked good. I'd at least play him in the introductory 9 game NHL stint to see how he handles the faster and more physical play. Then we can decide from there based on those games. But I wouldn't be too opposed to him playing in the O again next season. There are always areas of the game to improve on, even if you're scoring 2 ppg like McMichael was doing. Especially with a really good juniors coach in Hunter.

McMichael's value is at least a 1st since he was picked 25th overall and his value has only gone up since then.

Good deal for both sides on the Caps deal. I honestly feel like Boyd would be a lot like Chandler Stephenson when he got traded to VGK. He's never had a long look in a top 9 role, could really flourish.

Fair value for the Hawks - Caps trade but there's no way the Caps wait around the first 20 games of the season to see if they do or don't get Connor Murphy. How are they to plan their defensive lineup for the 20-21 season if it's dependent on Ian Mitchell's NHL ability?
