Larsson and Laughton
I'm with you that those guys can really help this leafs team especially Larsson. They need a guy like that.
however I don't see that deal happening on Seattle's end if they're giving up Larrson they're going to want Minten or Cowan. I mean they could use the 1st to flip and get a player but I just don't see that being enticing enough of a trade for Seattle to move a guy who has another year on his deal and is on a team friendly deal I would think they hold out.
I would be thinking something like
Minten
Timmins
1st
For
Larsson with 2M Retained.

I don't think that offer with Seattle even gets Toronto in the conversation for Larsson IF Seattle was going to trade him.

He’s not good. He’s an overpaid 3rd pair guy on a good team. You’re just wasting a first when there is no shortage of left shot D man in free agency.

Savard trade flipped
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FiveForFighting</b></div><div>Hanifin is a pending UFA. Savard has one more year at a decent cap hit</div></div>
$3.5M is not a "decent" cap hit for a guy like Savard. He brings minimal offense to the table, and his possession numbers are fairly negative this year - his CF is 43% at 5v5 despite the fact that he's getting nearly half his even strength starts in the O-zone, compared to last year when he got less than 40% offensive starts.
A 33 year old making $3.5M who'd be third pair on a contender just isn't worth a 1st. I'd argue that being on the hook for his age-34 season at $3.5M is more of a detriment than an asset, honestly.

Very doubtful Jeff Petry waives for Seattle, When he wants to remain close to his Detroit home.
And that offer for William Nylander isn't remotely close.

Opening Night Lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>seanrushton</b></div><div>I think his deal will be closer to what the Canucks got back for Horvat... a top-six guy, a prospect, and a first. Nylander is much closer to Horvat in terms of skill than Tkachuk. Both Turbo and Rees will be roster players next season on a big league squad</div></div>
The Vancouver deal wouldn’t have any affect actually. You can argue Nylander’s skill all day, but at the end of it what matters is that Toronto is contending, not looking to retool or rebuild like Vancouver is. Hence why they need roster players - like the Tkachuk deal and not the Horvat deal.

So the Flyers retain 3.75 for 3 years 11.25mil for a 6th and Nash retains 4mil for 2 years 8mil for a ufa
So the cost of retention on 12-16mil for 4 is??
The player alone should get a 1st ++

More Fun Permutations
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tmljk22</b></div><div>Regardless of what our thoughts are on this, Jarmo offered Mitch more than what he’s getting paid now with the sticking point being years. Mitch has since gotten better so it’s fair to assume Jarmo still values him extremely highly.
This deal is about fair value for someone of Mitch’s caliber but it’s absolutely fair to say Columbus passes given their current needs and that the want for Marner is dampened by the addition of Gaudreau.</div></div>
Yes, I'm sure Jarmo values him extremely highly still, but his offer was 4 years ago and context is important. That offer was pre-Gaudreau and pre-Laine, so Columbus just has very different needs now (which happen to be top line center and right pairing D).
"First round pick and top prospect" would be the starting point for most teams discussing a Mitch deal, but for Columbus, the 1st rounder and top prospect are much more valuable than most...and happen to theoretically fill both major needs.

Like everyone knows this is a mega win for St Louis. They'll deny it by saying he's a rental but this trade would be done after the other team is given permission to talk extension and a signed Nylander is worth so much more than this. Parayko's overpaid and half as valuable as Nylander.

However many posts here create scenarios that are hilariously one sided deals with the expectation that Marner/Nylander/Matthews come with compromised value.</div></div>
Ya unfortunately that’s the norm on here. People don’t get values right on here all day everyday. High draft picks are busts until they get 1ppg status. Salary is a dump when the team doesn’t have loads of cap space. Basically twitter noise that loves click bait for the most part

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tmljk22</b></div><div>Teams that move on from the best player in the deal almost always lose the trade. But trading one of those top players should never involve significantly downgrading without at least gaining draft capital. Also, why would the Leafs ever make this deal when Nylander is the cheapest of the three.
People on here are two ignorant to realize that GM’s are blinded by their anti-leafs bias and that trading on of the core four isn’t a cap-dump which is essentially what everyone in this platform treats it as.</div></div>
Only JT is a cap dump. The other 3 should be highly sought after and will get more than the above package. However it won’t be from NYR and a number of other teams that either don’t have the cap space or the assets to get it done. There’s going to be a small 4-8 team market that wants to/can actually do it.
