Why not? I've seen several AGM's from Van fans trading him for a 3rd. The package offered here is much better. I still don't think Van trades Horvat, but I don't see any reason they don't move Schenn.

I have a feeling McMann makes this team on the 4th. Douglas looked decent, but I think he starts on the Marlies along with Robertson, Abruzesse, Steeves, who I think will be the first call up. I can see Anderson getting plucked off waivers. This Marlies system has developed some solid bottom 6 prospects.

Again, it is not about value or his worth to the Leafs. It's about that he may want to quit hockey before his body can't recover from the abuse.

That makes sense, however, my intention was to any team that he would waive for and will take him for a negligible cost. essentially, get out of the contract trade. So not necessarily Seattle, but anyone.

Doesn’t seem to me it matters who the other team is in this trade and why would the leafs have to sweeten the deal?? He’s worth more than a 2nd and 5th, however, I’m sure that’s what the leafs will get. 50pt middle six forward only owed 750k on a 3.5M cap hit. Pretty confident that is a plus for other teams like ARZ or NJ. Basically any team with cap space and an internal budget below the cap ceiling.

This is the most short sighted take I see way too often since the trade. A couple of things about that trade,
1. Dubas made a bad deal. Not because Murray isn’t good, but he’s injury prone and Ottawa was trying to move him. I think everyone agrees he should have leveraged Ottawa for more.
2. Signing Campbell or Kuemper to the deals the received would have made resigning Matthews, Marner and Nylander difficult.
3. Campbell hasn’t proved a thing. I love him as a person, but he’s played 160 games and only 50 as a starter. He’s 30, also struggled with injuries and as much of a gamble as Murray.

Core 4 and bargain basement signings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Mrazek prior was playing behind the best defense in the league at the time so his numbers, decent as they were, were inflated. I think he's going to cost that late 2nd to move him given he passed through waivers, injury prone, remove that carolina defense and hasn't looked very good, is an overpaid backup.
Hollowell wouldn't have much interest from the Hawks as they have plenty of bottom 4 defensive young players/prospects.</div></div>
That's fair. I was basing this of the fact many "insiders" have mentioned the Hawks as possible landing spot for Mrazek. I'm under the impression, Dubas will either buy him out or play him if another goalie becomes problematic to sign. I hope it isn't the latter but he didn't really get much of a chance last year, so who knows.

That may be so, but I don't think it'll be a high end prospect. To me Hollowell makes sense, as he will require waivers this year and has been really solid with the Marlies. He seems like a good candidate to get a shot with a rebuilding or team with a need for a bottom pairing defenseman. Mrazek had one bad year. I'm not saying it won't cost something to move him, but I don't think it's as significant as some on here are anticipating. But I guess we won't know until it happens :)

Devils fans thoughts Read description
There's a good chance Zacha isn't qualified as his arbitration award may be more than the devils want to pay him. If that's even a remote possibility, the Leafs could very well work out a smaller deal for Zacha alone. Still don't see it though.

This move would give them cap flexibility to sign a more suitable winger for JT.
Also no way in hell NJ does this without another piece from TO.

Next years roster
If JT didn't have a NMC, I would say he would be on the move this summer. Even then, this trade is beyond bad for the Leafs. As someone mentioned before, JT is a PPG player in a bad year. Adding a 1st is insulting. I doubt Kadri will be coming back to TO. I could see him ending up in SJ or NYR.
Bottom line, JT has a NMC and is captain of his boyhood team. Why on earth would he waive his NMC for any reason??
The players I think will be moved are Muzz, Holl and Nylander. I expect to see top 6 wingers that compliment JT's style of play, like a Connor Garland, Konecny type.

I'd go as far as saying he wouldn 't leave TO for any team. Why would he? He holds all the cards and the Leafs management can do nothing about it. I'm also pretty sure most of us here knew this deal was going to look bad with at least 3 years left on it. Unfortunately if happened earlier...
He just doesn't have the speed or right linemates to succeed on the Leafs. He is not going to waive his NMC, so I'm guessing Nylander is the odd man out and they bring in a top 6 winger that can play the cycle game.

Ducks And Leafs Fans Would You Do This Deal
As a Leaf fan, I’d say that’s about as far as the Leafs would go for rentals. Also, what was said earlier. Anaheim can get more in separate deals.
I can only see Anaheim doing this if another prospect is included. At that point it would be too much for the Leafs to trade away for rentals.

Agreed, but he is also a guy that has good value in trade. If the Leafs are looking at Lindholm, as is being speculated, I'm sure he'll be someone ANA target.

Potential TOR-COL Trade Incoming
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Richard88</b></div><div>Dermott, Holl, and Mikheyev are the 3 players I thought of too when I heard what Elliott said.
I would think that Toronto will want to open some capspace for a some significant deadline additions, so trimming some fat like those 3 contracts might be a necessary move. Sakic and Dubas have a good relationship and have traded with one another multiple times before (the Kadri/Barrie swap, and then the Rosen/Hutchinson trade) so I could definitely see Dubas asking Sakic for some help if he knows that Sakic is interested in one of those depth guys.
Toronto probably won't trade Mikheyev but they might do it if they can get a better forward in another trade. I agree that he'd be a nice fit on the Avs 3rd line and also on the PK. They also have more capspace to be able to re-sign him in the offseason than Toronto do.
Holl seems to be Toronto fans' favourite whipping boy but he's nonetheless a reasonably solid 4/5 Dman who can PK. Dermott's skating and caphit would probably be easier for Colorado to fit though. Maybe something around Kaut for Dermott could work.</div></div>
I wouldn't be surprised if it's something around Dermott for a pick, as a precursor to a bigger trade by the Leafs to bolster their D. I think they look at Gio+ from SEA.

A late first is still a first. Why do people treat a 1st like some kind of throw away? Every GM selling expects a 1st, but I highly doubt we'll see many 1st rd picks dealt this TDL. There's not many to go around.
