A late first is still a first. Why do people treat a 1st like some kind of throw away? Every GM selling expects a 1st, but I highly doubt we'll see many 1st rd picks dealt this TDL. There's not many to go around.

Mainly JT and Nylander. He also is a guy that scores in bunches and then goes 5-6 gms without points. So keep that in mind. I would be fine with moving him if it brings immediate help to D or goal tending.

Incredible linemates is a stretch. Sure he played with JT and Nylander for a while, but that line has been disbanded for a while. He gets a sniff every so often, but recently he's mainly been playing with Spezz and Simmer.
EDIT: This statement is wrong. After checking, he has played 340ish minutes with JT and Nylander....my bad.

That being said, I agree with you - please stop trading him to CBJ in all these ACGMs.</div></div>
It's also fair to note that he has amassed his points this year with no PP time. He primarily plays PK and even strength anywhere from the 2nd to 4th lines.

I'm ignoring the fact the ANA deal is a gross underpay and the CHI deal is a gross overpay. Moving 5 roster players at the TDL, tells me there are deeper issues that these moves will not address. These are off season moves.

Schenn is a depth defenceman on a good team. He has been that for the past 2 seasons in Tampa. But on a team with zero good RD, he's a top 4 player. That says way more about the state of the Canucks defence than it does schenns value.</div></div>
You should go visit a different site. Sad part is I agree with your assessment of Schenn. Too bad you're attitude stinks....

The point of this trade was to load up for a long play off run, while adding players with term and without gutting our prospect pool. Lilly addresses a need for the Canucks on the right side and Voit is a very good forward prospect that’s trending in the right direction. Probably 2-3 years away. Van gets a pretty good package all things considered.
Garland brings grit and offensive skill to the top 6. Miller will cost a top prospect out the gate and his AAV is higher next year with less term.
Dubas can worry about moving Kerf or Muzz in the off season to reclaim cap. Both of these players bring term and address immediate needs on the Leaf roster.
On a side note, I’m not sure why so many Leaf ACGM’s keep forcing Kerf into trades. He’s been our best utility forward all season. He’s having a career year with zero PP time. He’s the type of player you hold on to for a PO run.

You're assuming a Miller trade is the only move made.
Also, it has been reported by several reputable media outlets (on both sides) that conversations have taken place between these teams specifically about Miller. I'm not saying the offers in these ACGM's are fair representation on what Miller is actually worth, I just can't see someone giving up what Rutherford is asking. My humble guess is Miller goes no where.
The OP's proposal is done to insight reaction, so I won't comment on it. But I will say I get the frustration Van fan's feel when seeing the offers from us Leaf fans :)

Although I do agree with DeHaan being worth a 3rd, I cannot see Flower getting a 1st or 2nd even at 50% retained and Hagel being worth a top prospect AND a 1st. At the end of the day, Hagel is a middle 6 forward. Period. He is underpaid for the next 2 years, yes, but not enough to garner a top prospect and a 1st. That is what Chi is asking, not what I believe they will get.

Meaningful changes for all
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>Holl does not need to move, especially if it makes the team worse, and a middling 7th defender is something you can literally get off waivers ever other month.
Debrusk has the same amount of points Ritchie does and will be exceptionally expensive next season, hell, last season on the same team Ritchie had more goals than Debrusk had points, why does Debrusk have all this untapped potential suddenly and Ritchie is a slug? Debrusk's value is in the sewer. Just because you think he could improve doesnt mean he has peak value. He's a buy low guy, there is nothing in that package that warrents a 1st or even Hollowell, the value is awful for the leafs</div></div>
You're not entirely wrong about DeBrusk and I will admit, I had a 2nd instead of 1st initially, but bumped it to a 1st as I do see DeBrusk as the better player and Richie's contract has another year at 2.5M. Granted DeBrusks qualifying offer is going to be higher than Richie's contract, but that can be dealt with in the offseason. I think he's just in a bad situation. I like Richie's game, just not his cap hit and the only line he seems to fit on is the 4th line, not exactly an ideal position for a 2.5M player on a cap strapped team. Holl to me is a bottom pairing dman on a contender, if that. His IQ in all zones is subpar. Given the right partner he can be effective, unfortunately, Muzz has fallen off a cliff this year for whatever reason. Full disclosure, I have never been high on Holl, always thought he was being carried by Muzz and wasn't happy he was signed for 2M. Lauzon is a solid 2-way defense man and brings some sandpaper, isn't flashy by any means and is able to skate. His TOI suggests he's playing on the bottom pairing and that's what his contract lines up with. To me this move creates the space for Lilly and Dermott to be regulars in the lineup and saves cap space.

What do you think DeBrusk and Senyshyn will get on the open market? Both have requested trades, neither is having a great season, however, You're getting a player that can step in right away and is the same age as DeBrusk, 2 b level prospects and a 1st. unsure how that is crap. If anything, Leafs fans will probably laugh at this proposal. I think it makes the Leafs better, but hey that's just my opinion.

these are really really bad for the leafs</div></div>
Holl is needs to move on. Both Lilly and Dermott are better options on the right side right now. He has a 2M contract that doesn't fit on the bottom pairing or in the press box.
DeBrusk is a better option on the Leafs than Richie and, I believe, Richie is a better option for the Bruins than DeBrusk. Senyshyn has been solid in the AHL for Providence, however, handled incorrectly from all I'm reading form other Bruins fans and media. He's got size, speed and skill, just needs the toolbox. The Leafs can help develop that. DeBrusk is a better player than Richie, IMO and is a much more reliable player in the top 9. This is a buy low scenario. That 1st is going to be near the bottom third of the round, and should he play well, he could always be traded for a comparable asset as you would get with that pick. Hollowell and Anderson are both bottom of the lineup potential, and I'm sure you can agree the Leafs have a lot of those types of players. Anderson could step into the Bruins lineup today on the 4th line. He's needs NHL opportunity.
It's not as bad as you make it out to be for either side.

Mrazek signing was good at the time. Soupy has been lights out, but I doubt anyone had any sort of real confidence in him playing this way in the summer. Mrazek can always be traded for minimal return if need be in the off season. At the very least, he gives the Leafs solid goaltending depth in the playoffs.

Pens trade Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsGoPens69</b></div><div>Not even being a Pens “homer” or having my “home team rose colored glasses on”. What people don’t understand about ZAR is:
He was a top scorer, top NCAA free agent signing, Hobey Baker runner up(31 goals and 32 assists in 36 games his senior season).
He completely transformed his game to become a top PK, Selke vote getting, top defensive forward in the NHL. And still contributes offensively enough. But if he signed elsewhere he probably would’ve had an opportunity as a top 6; atleast a mid 6.
But he still contributes offensively enough too. He has 8-9 goals and 130 plus hits playing just 40 or so games each of his 3 seasons. Mainly b/c his body probably can’t/won’t hold up to a full 82 game season. Even though he has good size at 6’1-205 pounds.
But if he did play a full 82, he would easily be a 200 plus Hit player and close to a 20 goal scorer(with no PP time and 3rd-4th line minutes).
Put him on the 2nd PP unit and plant him in the crease and I would imagine his production goes way up too. And still a top PK player and a top defensive forward in NHL. He’s an analytics darling.
In my opinion, It would be just good asset management getting something for him now. Not that he’s not needed, unwanted.
He’ll be 27 years old, coming into his prime and looking for a long term deal next season. I would imagine 3-5 years and something around 2M-2.5M per. And a bigger opportunity. And most likely, he’ll get it elsewhere. I can’t see the Pens matching an offer like that or similar.</div></div>
Honestly, if the Leafs were able to get an NHL quality bottom pairing defence man in another trade, I'd be all over this deal.
Be warned, Holl is a good bottom pairing dman IMO, that needs to have a good partner to cover for his mistakes. His hockey IQ in his own zone is questionable.
