100% agree, this was all I figured could be done in one off season, vanek provides depth scoring, same pint total as JVR worth about 4M less

Similar Ryan O’Reilly trades to 7 different teams.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres1108</b></div><div>Yeah, as a BUF fan I understand why some of us overvalue him because he's so good at draws and defensively but he is relatively slow especially for a top C making almost 8 mil a year. With the way the game is going (younger + faster) his contract will look bad when he is 30+ y.o. and even slower. I believe he will be dealt this offseason and likely everyone in BUF will be dissapointed with the return.</div></div>
For starters, its 7.5 which is as close to 7 as it is 8. as the cap keeps going up his cap hit will be pretty normal.
hes not a burner but hes not slow. he puts up 60 points playing tough minutes, a lot of defensive zone starts and not much around him. i'm open to moving him, but im not exactly dying to get rid of hiim

The Darling Situation

Overall, I think you are paying a little too much</div></div>
Fair enough. Darling has been terrible so I figured I needed to sweeten the deal but it looks like I gave the deal diabetes

Faulk Skinner

Actually it is fine just the way it is. O'Reilly <=> Faulk, Lehner and 2019 1st <=> Skinner. Jeff has 89 goals over the last 3 years, that puts him into the elite category, Faulk is a very good defenseman and has averaged nearly 40 pts and 14 goals the last 4 years. I think the trade is fair as written. It is good trade for both teams, Buffalo needs an elite LW and top pairing defenseman. IMO Let's make a deal!!! :cheers

There is a little thing called the salary cap that prevents your Detroit trade.

Best at Each Position
Devan Dubnyk is the 3rd best goalie in the league? He's had two full seasons of being a starter ... the results of both being saved by hot starts. The months of FEB/MAR/APR in 2017 - 2.78 / .907 & 2016 - 2.61 / .904. Not sure how 2 years of being a starter and having great first half's with borderline backup / AHL second half's makes you the third best goalie in the league. Holtby has been much better than Dubnyk for longer (and I'm very much not a fan of WAS). Lundqvist had ONE bad season (though he outplayed Dubnyk in FEB/MAR/APR with 2.76 / .912 and outplayed Carey Price in the playoffs) but has been a top 3 goalie in the league since the Dinosaurs. Quick has been hurt but has two Cups to his name. Crawford as well. Rinne is a strong candidate. Too many to name over Dubnyk.

Good thing signings are all about points, and have nothing to do with shutting down top lines, winning defensive draws, being the guy you have confidence throwing out there with 2 minutes left, ahead by a goal, 3 consecutive years of a PDO above 100, or advanced analytics.
edit : most deals are based off of potential and not current ability

More like Tierney is a steal than Pageau overpaid.

reinhart has value. we dont have a lot of pieces that have value that we can move. he stopped doing the ror practices this year (fwiw). i am fine with saying he does not have the tools to be great, but he should be very good. i am fine with moving reinhart for help on d, but its really gotta be on the left side.

You do get that in Daley and Antipin. I think we're more desperate for a guy who can move the puck and score over their handedness.
