Rumor is Bishop starts on LTIR. Maybe Dallas trades the contract to Buffalo OR moves pieces to make LTIR work by the start of the year.

This is a good expectation of what to expect without some any moves. You can see how the Cogs and Comeau contracts likely limit bottom six additions.

Panarin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>J_Sand3rs</b></div><div>Nope. If I'm Dallas, I'd much rather hold on to one of the best two-way guys in the league (Faksa) and my 1st round pick than trade them away for 1-year of Panarin. The kid is good, don't get me wrong, but the Stars have 3+ years of control left on Faksa, they'll have potentiall 6 years of control on their 1st round pick (Veleno, Hayton, Kotkaniemi, Kupari, etc.), and they have 5 years of control on Gurianov. No way do I trade all of that away for 1-year of Panarin. Just adding Panarin isn't going to bring a Cup to Dallas and when he leaves following next season, Dallas loses Faksa, Gurianov, and a 1st for nothing. Value might be right, but this would be a terrible idea for Dallas. They do need to address their top-6 issues, but those can easily be addressed via free agency and it's not going to cost 3 huge pieces either.</div></div>
Fair enough but quality always wins versus quantity. Third line centers can be had easier than ppg forwards. I understand alot of this rests on a resign. That said Faksa, who likely may score 50 once or twice in his career, a possible 2c center prospect and a toss in is well worth Panarin. Cap will tricky over the next year or two but is totally manageable until Heiskanen and Kling hit their next contracts.

TBF no state income tax in Texas. Jamie Benn makes the most in the NHL after taxes on his 9.5 million cap hit. I expect Dallas would have to overpay, but they don't have to pay as much as other teams. Agents are smart enough to do the math.
FYI there is no methot.

A better player? We have him under control for the next few years. He's pretty good at what he does, and not many guys on the team can do what he does best. I don't see him as readily available. If Dallas is looking for a hockey trade I'd expect Honka be first in line. I'm sure Nill has a price for Johns but I'm not sure its reasonable.

Seguin Trade, Double trade for Svechnikov
We are in win now mode. Jim Nill's employment is in win now mode. They aren't moving Seguin for pieces or until the trade deadline if a re-sign dosen't materialize. Value seems off when flipping picks to Carolina.

Tavares and Kovalchuk
I think concerns are valid about long term implications the cap in 2+ years. However if we are honest the next lockout in 2020-21 will provide buyout opportunities. Radulov will be a prime canidate, Bishop may in the discussion as well and I think Benn will be a darkhorse considering his injuries in the past, his play style and him being 31. Honestly if you can add Tavares for nothing but money then you do it. Heiskanen extends this cup window and hopefully some forwards come along for a second wind like Robertson/Tufte etc.

Well done. UFA's contracts are near perfect. I'd love to lock down Hamhuis for those prime years. Same for Stafford, he's massively underrated. Seguin is a pretty boy who can't play winning hockey, he just stuffs stat sheets. Open up that cap for real players. :P

15 million to sign Seguin, Lindell, and Honka. This all assumes Hanzal goes LTIR when indications have been that he will play (or try to) next year. I like Tavares in Dallas, I simply disagree with how you've done it.

Rous isn't getting 3 million from DAL. Darling to DAL isn't happening with that contract when Seguin needs a new daal next summer. Janny needs at least 3 million if not more.

I'm not a huge fan either but good on MTL to ask for Jannmark rather than Dickinson or Honka. Just to play devil's advocate but Pac also doesn't have the degenerative knee issue. I love Janny as much as the next guy but one wrong hit/slash or just with enough time that knee can end his career.

A bit too much on the renewal deals but your are being realistic on Tavares. Any team that signs him will have to pony up. But you can't just cut the Spezza, Methot and Hanzal contracts loose.

Seguin for Matthews in the Summer
Wondering what you think value wise on Seguin for Matthews. Rumors aren't likely true, or are at least extremely exaggerated. Maybe Seguin tells Dallas he doesn't want to resign with the team and Toronto sees a chance to get the cup experienced Brampton native. Dallas gets similar production, less experience with a big but not Seguin big, bridge deal next year.

Not sure Kari at 3.5 is your answer in goal. Get him at 2 or 2.5 million and get another goalie that cap split the season. Nevermind, just get another goalie.

Maybe Dallas, wouldn't see it as a strategic move.... but your argument that they will NOT move him is wrong. hockey is a business and everybody has got a price</div></div>
The front office has been pretty vocal in calling Heiskanen a franchise defenseman. Therefore the value to the franchise is extremely high. They won't move a franchise defenseman for a good-great player, a couple picks and cap dump. We don't HAVE to move Spezza so the only real motive of Dallas would be to get Pacioretty. I think more of a Pick + Roster player + pick is what Dallas would do.

I think Dallas would be all over that as Scandella is massively underrated, as is RoR. Not sure Buffalo would or should. Buffalo needs quality not quantity especially for their more valuable assets.
