Smartest Move for Toronto to solve their issues in one trade...Toronto trades Kasperi Kapanen age 23 (3,200,000) and a 2020 Second Round pick To the Pittsburgh Penguins FOR Goaltender Casey DeSmith age 28 (1,250,000K 3yrs, Defensemen Juuso Riikola age 26 (850K RFA) and Forward Dominik Simon age 25 (750K RFA) = TOTAL CAP USAGE of $2,850,000. THIS TRADE also opens up 350,000K in Cap Space for the Maple Leafs. Kapanen has 28pts and Simon has 20pts in roughly the same amount of games. They both play wing and the Maple Leafs get a YOUNG NHL proven CHEAP Defensemen with upside AND a proven NHL Backup/Starter (if given chance and needed). The Second Round pick is because Kapanen has lots of name value but his stats don't demand that he's even much better than Simon in production plus Simon has played with Crosby and has developed very well in his 200 foot game.
