Description

This only happens if Marco Rossi is available with Montreal's pick. Think MTL would be all over this. They finally get a game breaking center. Kuznetsov feeding Caufield will result in a lot of 40 goal seasons. They also get their top pair LHD to play with Weber or Petry. And of course get away from that terrible Alzner contract. They instantly get much better and finally get over the hump of being a bubble team.

For Caps they prepare for the future while still staying very competitive. It could kind of "suck" for 1 season but worth it for a future of Rossi-McMichael-Protas as their center depth.

Have some options for 2C. Could try Thronton or Koivu on 1 year deals. Then put 2 fast, highly offensive pieces next them. There's a chance McMichael could steal the position as well.

Caps also have like $6M to do mess around with even with Alzner on the roster. Could also send him down to save some money. Then if they need they can buy him out next offseason for a small hit. Worth it for the return.

Rossi is the 2nd best centre this draft. He doesnt make it to 8, hes gone top 5.

The odds are 50.4% that Detroit gets the 4th overall pick, Which means they probably take Marco Rossi there. Noway are the Habs getting Rossi so trading for the Habs pick makes zero sense.

Exactly unless Montreal gets #3 and takes him i doubt they would. Rossi wont be a Hab any time soon.

Can’t see Washington giving up kuznetzov and putting the last few years of Ovechkin’s career at risk by hoping an undersized 19 year old can replace kuz. (I’m high on Rossi, but my team is building up, not trying to stay on top)
