Leafs Accept.
More will be needed to entice Ottawa (or any team) to take Gourde for his entire contract. She's a long one!

From a Sharks perspective, it's a good trade, but I can't help but wonder why Tampa would take back 1.5 million in Sorensen instead of just taking back picks. It would make more sense for them that way...

Sens have too many young forwards who will be pushing for NHL spots in the next two years for them to be willing to take on a contract that big for 5 years. Yanni Gourde is not even close to being worth that contract, and it makes absolutely no sense for Ottawa to tie their own hands by locking up a roster spot for half a decade for such a mediocre player.

I really don't see anyone being interested in Gourde at all. Of the four big contracts Tampa will look to move, he's easily the hardest to move.

How many NTC's players do you think will accept a trade from a tax advantage state like Florida with a Cup contender to rebuilding teams plus a team where a successful GM had a contract dispute with ownership? And Toronto's got its own cap problems---there not going to trade an ELC Liljegren for a RFA problem.

I think you'd be lucky to get 1 to accept. And the team that acquire them are negotiating from a position of strength--knowing Tampa's cap issue--so your returns don't account for this.

Palat likely won't waive to go to a worse team. And if he does Tampa probably want like a 2nd for him instead of salary coming back.
