Who better to teach the youth about what it takes to win than Toews?
Keith solidifies the D while the youth transition in.
Ottawa can absorb the cap, and have $12.65MM coming off the books next season in Anisimov, Gudbranson, Reilly, and Nilsson, not to forget Gaborik, and a $1MM less owed to Phaneuf.

I’ve tried to research fair trade offers for Toews and Keith
The 1st is for Toews, and remember that’s an Ottawa first.
The 2nd is for Keith, the CBJ pick
Ottawa has really loaded up their centre and defence prospects, and since Toews and Keith are a C and a D, I’ve added two 23 year old ‘B’ prospects, a centre and a D. Chlapik has a 3C ceiling, he just needs minutes. Lajoie has a 4/5D ceiling, an 18-19 minute a night D
Chicago fans, please remember that Keith is 37, and Toews is 32 with a $10.5MM cap hit.
As for the NTC, Ottawa has an exciting group of players coming into the league, and with Toews and Keith, might surprise some teams. Is it enough to waive, who knows, but saying they wouldn’t has as much validity to my saying they would. Ignore the NTC please.

Sorry about the signing bonus money, but Toews only makes $2MM this season, which helps offset a little.
Have fun commenting, but remember, this isn’t actually happening.
Even though I think Ottawa will be a Playoff team by then, that is by no means a guarantee, and there's no way the team as it stands now is ready to be trading their own 1st. If I'm Ottawa, I'm not trading the 2022 pick unless the team has basically clinched a playoff spot by the 2022 TDL. Sens could easily still be bad next year, and potentially giving up Shane Wright for Toews is an insane risk to take for Ottawa.
Toews and Keith probably don't waive their NMC's. it makes no sense for Ottawa to commit that much cap with Tkachuk and Batherson needing new contracts in a flat cap world. The Senators didn't do this extremely painful rebuild to enter cap hell.
