Description
To those who read the description, my thinking behind these moves are more than a quick fix upgrade.

Edmonton needs a goalie for the present and future. Washington is one of the few teams with 2 solid goalie options that are young and be number 1 goalies. Vanecek is an RFA and will want a raise and deserves more playing time. Washington could use a solid LD young prospect, which Edmonton has and even though they are weak in the depth charts on LD, they will have a easier chance finding a LD over a goalie in the draft or free agency.

As for Domi, everyone thinks Edmonton needs to get a better 3rd line C. I think they need to rearrange they lines to have better depth. RNH is a great option at 3rd line C and Domi can slot in at 2nd line LW. You can also switch them and try different combinations because both RNH and Domi are flexible. Domi hasn't been the best in Columbus but not the worse. I think both parties are ready to move on and the conditions with the picks help Edmonton with Domi being a rental and not giving up too much but if it works out and he signs long-term than the pick means nothing to Edmonton.

Domi with retention will cost a lot more than cap dump a 4th and C+ prospect.

Throwing your top defensive prospect PLUS a 3rd for a goalie who's put up average numbers on a good team seems like a huge overpay, especially considering they recently traded a 2nd to get him back from Seattle.

Caps don't need another LD prospect, although an Broberg for Vanecek-offer would be hard to turn down. They have no cap room for Koskinen tho. Maybe if Caps send Hagelin the other way and Oilers don't send their 3rd rounder.

There is zero chance broberg is traded for a goalie.
