In 2023, you have $11M in cap space and need to re-sign MacKinnon, Byram, and 2 more forwards to ice a lineup with 12F/6D/2G. No scratches.

Detroit isn't giving up a 2nd for 1yr of Compher. I also doubt they give up a 2nd for a player that has never hit the 20g mark.

Detroit needs a legit 2C. I don't think Compher is that guy.

COL isn’t trading Newhook that’s an almost certainty.

Manson isn’t getting $5m not from COL. Girard isn’t replacing Toews as Makar’s partner more likely with a fully healthy line up him and Toews are partners.
