    So 2 years of disgruntled Marner (and he is gone) and late 1st will cost Sharks - 5x5,75 mil, Timo Meier, 2nd rounder (which in fact is like 10 pick lower than the one Leafs will send to Sharks)

    How can Sharks agree to that ?

    I don't know which I find harder to believe, that the sharks would retain almost 30 million on EK65, AND ship out Meier for anything less than every 1st round pick you have until 2027, or that Kerfoot is worth a 2nd.

    I could buy Marner for Meier being the basis for a trade, with San Jose adding assets/taking back bad assets til it evens out.

    I could buy James Reimer being had for a prospect and a pick.

    What I can't buy is a deal where the Sharks send you Reimer & Meier for 2 years of Mitch Marner, and agree to throw in Erik Karlsson with $28.5M retained over the next 5 years for the "bonus" of three mid prospects and a 1st that they might not even get this year. Incredibly easy pass for the Sharks.

    Agreed. But, trading Marner would be the dopiest thing the Leafs have done in a long, long time.
