Description
Avs need a 2C for the playoff push. I don't see them doing and/or being able to afford a rental. C's signed at a reasonable cost on teams that are rebuilding are...Booner Jenner.

He scores at about the same rate as Newhook, but plays tough, wins FO's, shoots at a high level and would create balance across the 2nd and 3rd line.

Additionally, with a little retentition (plus a creative CHI trade), the cap works not only this year, but into the next couple of years (I know it is over for 2022, but the space will change by Trade Deadline and the retention can always be fudged)

I can't see the Avs trading Behrens, JLF or '23 `1st in almost any deal. OO is a former 1st, Bowers is a C-level prospect, but could be swapped out for nearly anyone.

I doubt the BJs would move Jenner. He’s pretty much their only C right now and is on a very nice contract.

If they do move him, there definitely wouldn’t be retention

Patrick Kane, Jonathon Toews and anyone not named Jack Johnson will get the retention slot.

Blue Jackets aren't trading their 29 year old Captain in Boone Jenner, And they sure as hell aren't retaining on a reasonable $3,750,000 x 3 years contract.

If you can't see them trading Behrens, who do you think is next to go on COL's left side? I doubt they will want him treading water in a 7th D role.

I don't think the Avs have anything in the class of assets necessary to sell the Jackets on the idea of trading Boone barring absurd force majeure.
1) Current Captain
2) Most reliable center we have, which is a position we need reinforced MORE, not taken away from
3) JUST extended to a sweetheart deal
4) No really, it's a massive sweetheart deal; he'd get close to double that on the free market

Sometimes some guys really, truly are just not available. Not unless you do something really stupid.
