Description
DETROIT-BUFFALO:
Why for Sabres: Portillo has reportedly said he won't sign with Buffalo and Sabres have Levi and UPL ahead of him on the depth chart.
Why for Wings: With minimal goaltending prospects, Portillo has a better shot of starting in Adirondack or backing up in Detroit. The lure of an original six team in the state where he's had college success adds appeal for signing with Detroit.

NASHVILLE-BUFFALO:
Why for Sabres: A 24-year old RHD with strong mobility and two-way game suited to Granato's system, who's an RFA this summer, Fabbro fits the Sabres need and timeline.
Why for Predators: With cap space an issue this summer and the Preds embarking on a retool that will reportedly favor re-signing Carrier over Fabbro, the swap for 24-year old LHD with mobility at less cap hit (50% retained by Buffalo) helps cap without losing depth on defense.

VANCOUVER-BUFFALO:
Why for Sabres: Adding an experienced scoring winger at age 25 with strong character and 2 years of term fits the current model Adams cites and provides scoring depth to ease the pressure on the rookies.
Why for Canucks: With cap issues and Beauvillier's addition, Boeser is the easier selloff over Garland on wing while gaining some prospects and draft capital for the looming rebuild.

I don't really see Boeser being a fit for this team. Adams is trying to build a fast team & he's slow.

Why would Detroit pay a 3rd for a player they can sign for nothing on the 15th of August?
