Description
If you want Wilson you have to realize that if he was ever put up on the block to sell, 20+ teams would be bidding for him. He's a unicorn that every team wants. His return would be massive. You all keep offering a return for a 50-60 point power winger, which is fine, but then you need to keep adding because if you want him you'll have to outbid a lot of other teams.

Wilson's realistic return would be a 1st+top prospect+top 6 player/top 4 player at LEAST, depending on where that 1st is, how good the top prospect is, or how good the NHL F or D player is. For example, if TOR wanted Wilson it would be Nylander+Knies most likely. Yes, I know that's a severe overpay but that's the kind of return it would take to beat out other teams.

But again, at the end of the day, the Caps aren't trading Wilson. He's the next captain. Only way they trade him is if he asks to be moved.

If Wilson was put on the block the return would be significantly lower.

You really think common sense and logic will prevent ridicules trades from being posted?

same with Crouse. there is absolutely no reason to trade either of them. theyre worth so much anyways, around a couple firsts and a couple really good prospects. seems high but there isn't any incentive to trade them

A 1st+top prospect is reasonable. A 1st+top prospect+ top 6/top 4 isn't happening. Definitely wouldn't be Nylander+Knies, Nylander alone is worth more and he's younger and Knies himself brings a unique skillset even if he's not a unicorn per se.

If we look at the Tkachuk trade which is a very unique trade, no other offers were remotely similar, but the pieces they got back was an older player in Huberdeau of a similar caliber with no-term and a really good dmen who is also older and had no-term a good prospect, and future 1st for Tkachuk with 8 years term and a 4th.

Here Wilson is older than Nylander, has the same amount of term and he's not an elite player by any means.

The best that would happen is Nylander for Wilson swap with other pieces in the trade perhaps.

If teams are offering a top 6 F/top 4 D for Wilson in addition to a top prospect and a 1st, it would be someone who is older same age, perhaps someone who they are bound to lose and probably had similar term and wouldnt be elite. Maybe someone like Tyler Toffoli.
