Description
GMBM starts facing out the old core. Kuzy, Oshie and Backstrom are all 30+ and have meant a lot for this franchise but the next wave of cup-runs will be carried by Strome, Schmaltz, Domi, Wilson, Lindholm, Newhook, Sandin and Girard and hopefully the player they pick at 8 (or 1st) this draft.
Lindholm, Wilson, and Sandin will need new contracts after next season so I didn't take on more expensive longterm contracts. Brown might be a cap casualty next offseason if necessary.

Trades
1.
WSH
  1. Girard, Samuel
  2. Newhook, Alex [RFA Rights]
  3. 2023 1st round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
COL need a 2C and will have Girard on their 3rd pair paying him 5M when everyone’s healthy. Newhook has upside but still needs some sheltering at C.
COL
  1. Alexeyev, Alexander [RFA Rights]
  2. Kuznetsov, Evgeny
  3. 2025 2nd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Kuzy wants out and COLs fast pace with suit him well. When motivated (which he should be on a contender) he still is brilliant but seems to need a change of scenery.
2.
WSH
  1. Schmaltz, Nick
Additional Details:
Schmaltz NMC kicks in next season and his contract will be costing more then his caphit from now on.
ARI
  1. McMichael, Connor
  2. Oshie, T.J.
  3. 2023 1st round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Oshie’s leadership and hustle is still valuable but his long term health is questionable. CMC is the Caps best prospect and ARI get another high pick.
3.
WSH
  1. Lindholm, Elias
Additional Details:
He seemingly wants out and has 1 year left on his contract.
CGY
  1. Lapierre, Hendrix
  2. 2024 1st round pick (WSH)
  3. 2024 3rd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
Calgary get a 1st, a recent 1st round pick in Lapierre (center) and a 3rd
4.
WSH
CHI
  1. Mantha, Anthony ($1,700,000 retained)
  2. 2024 4th round pick (WSH)

Hawks don't need retention on Mantha. They have plenty of cap space. What they need is a 2nd round pick to take him off Cap's roster.

Girard is not on the third pairing. Not sure why everyone thinks that, but a look at TOI.

That aside, that's too much for Kuzy. Take out Newhook and the 2nd and it's closer imo.

That’s a rather easy no from COL.

That’s purely speculation that Lindholm would want out of CGY, but if he did, we’d need more than that

I’m not super high on Lapierre as a Prospect either, we’d be far more interested in Dylan Strome + Rasmus Sandin + Vincent Lorio FOR Lindholm + Kylington

I’d also like to add Jensen for Tanev as well if possible.

laugh laugh No way in hell does Kuznetsov get Girard+Newhook+Late 1st round pick

Nick Schmaltz gets a far better return than that, Plus no way does TJ Oshie waive for that dump in Arizona.

The Elias Lindholm trade is even more laugh Any team after Lindholm blows away this offer.
