Trades
1.
BUF
  1. Casey, Seamus [Reserve List]
Additional Details:
Casey is super talented but likely blocked off by Hamilton, Marino and Nemec short and long-term in New Jersey. Since Casey is surplus to requirements in New Jersey, the Devils not having much going for them in terms of center prospects and the Sabres seemingly having an excess of center prospects I think this deal makes a lot of sense.
2.
BUF
  1. Kuemper, Darcy
Additional Details:
Assuming the Capitals have reason to move on from Kuemper after the 23-24 season (be it due to committing to a rebuild or making a move for some other star goalie like Hellebuyck, Saros etc) they pick up a battery of prospects in the process.

Kuemper is still a very good goalie and playing him in a tandem with Levi makes the Sabres goalie situation a very strong one overall.
WSH
  1. Nadeau, Olivier
  2. Neuchev, Viktor
  3. Strbak, Maxim [Reserve List]
Additional Details:
I feel like these guys are unlikely to find spots on the Sabres roster but would be valuable to a team like the Caps (old and highly levered in terms of cap) where they should be able to contribute on a nightly basis.

You're right about their prospect pool. But even their current NHL roster, has young stars or soon to be stars. Thompson and Cozens signed long term at 14.5m combined....disgusting for Atlantic rivals.
Yep, the Atlantic with Sabres, Wings, Sens and even Habs might see a turnaround in standings in the last half this decade. Though I expect the Leafs/Bruins/Lightning to be good too.

Pass on the first trade. I'm honestly tired of undersized d, we have dahlin and power to move the puck. I would pass on the second trade because strbak is exactly the kind of d that we need. Kuemper at 5 million is probably fine, but the term is kinda rough. Probably have more value when the cap goes up.

Atlantic is definitely set up to be an absolute best of a division, some great teams at the top already and every other team looks to be making strides as well! Gonna have some excellent teams missing the playoffs in the years to come! Makes for exciting hockey for us to watch!

Wouldn't do either of these trades. I like Nadeau and think he will be a nice bottom 6 addition in 2 years.

If Kuemper is available, I would be thrilled to see the Sabres make an offer. Out of the three you listed, I'd make Neuchev available (Sabres' scouting had him as a first round talent -- he looks good, but on the small side). There are other B-prospects we could add that are looking for a place to break in right now. I dunno -- maybe the deal listed works if the Caps retain a fraction of DK's salary.
