Trading Knies for a 30 year defenceman is a terrible idea.

So why would the Canes do this? Drury is already a young 3C, and he has 2C upside if he can find a couple of extra gears offensively (unlikely but who knows). He isn’t a cap dump either.

If the Canes go out and land a big name 2C in the offseason, they might move Drury. Maybe Drury and a 3rd for a 1st, but Toronto’s 1st, isn’t all that valuable since it’s likely to be middle of the pack, and from what I have seen, 2026 isn’t looking like it will be that great of a draft

Canes decline. You need to lower the pick coming back. Make it a 4th or a 5th. It's not worth losing Drury to move up 30 spots when the late 1st round until the early 3rd round have the same chance of making the NHL
