Why in the world would the non-playoff-in-2025 Anaheim Ducks want one season of Mitch Marner?

Neither Anaheim or Ottawa make those trades.

Anaheim is re-building, there's no point in adding a huge contract on someone who is outside their planned contention window.

Ottawa isn't going to take on spare parts for their best D, even with a 1st round pick.

Kampf is a cap dump and Jarnkrok is worth that 3rd at most. so you want Chychrun and a 4th for less than a late 1st rounder of value?

Marner has a full NMC, he goes where he wants, and if he only wants one place, like Kane did with the Rangers, you'll be disappointed in the return, like the Hawks were.

Not to mention Marner is going to cost UFA money anyway, so why wouldn't we just shoot our shot in free agency and keep Trevor and the first?

Not saying Marners not worth that return, but TML have zero leverage in the matter.
