Matthews is so overrated. Marner is the best player on that team. I’d probably score 40 goals too if I sat in the crease and waited for the puck to arrive perfectly on my stick

Arizona overpaid here and your still complaining? Dude get out of here!

The trade sets the Leafs back in time considerably. None of those players currently make an impact at the NHL level, half don't even make an impact at the AHL level.

Matthews is overrated but your comment is a hell of a stretch. He does a lot of great things but hasn't yet made it into the rarified air the Leaf fan base thinks he has.
That being said, he is worth more than a package of B level prospects.

I believe Arizona overpaid in this trade. Strome still has potential, yes he hasn't made an impact, but he's still young and has loads of potential left. Chychrun is solid, and like Strome, still has loads of potential. Same goes for Dvorak. Crouse is a big guy that adds a defensive game to the Leafs lineup. Domi has made an impact, and will be great in Toronto. The 1st can turn into anything. However, if Arizona is getting their #1 center, Stepan has to be going the other way. 5 stars, this is a trade I can see Toronto taking, especially when they need to sign Nylander and Marner.

Any trade for Matthews won't happen and if so it needs to start with 2 firsts and Keller

Not saying it's good or bad, I don't know what I would do, but the deal isn't horrible. I think Toronto would at least think have about it. Strome and Crouse make me nervous, so I would probably say no, but if they use the $ to sign Tavares, they are better than than they are now, with a ton of assets...
      Chychrun - 1st (16th overall - 2016)
      Crouse - 1st (11th overall - 2015)
      Strome - 1st (3rd overall - 2015)
      Domi - 1st ( 12th overall - 2012)
      2018 1st rd pick (5th overall - Likely a VERY good player)
      Dvorak - 2nd rd pick

Look...I'm not going to fault you for having some fun and bringing in some big names.

I agree that the package headed to the leafs is a strong offer....but the Leafs could never accept. It'd be taking a good young core that hasn't been able to move the needle in Arizona yet and giving away the guy that has finally led the Leafs back into a playoff team. I wonder if that package would have got the Leafs to bite prior to the 2016 draft.

The other trades are being ignored right now too. Unfortunately I don't see any of them being close to viable.

Calgary is not giving you Tkachuk for that random assortment

I'd think every team in the league would take Hanifin over OEL.

And I doubt Detroit has much interest in moving AA for that return.
