Pretty sure that Ottawa can get a better return then is for Erik Karlsson, Can't see Dorion accepting this in the least.

The funny thing is, not only is that a poor trade for Ott, but also a poor trade for CGY. They have the best duo defence in Gio and Dougie and you want to split them up? nah. Its worth more if you can just pry Hoffman or Ryan from them for a bennet or something.

Sens gonna want futures out out the ass for karlsson and allegedly roster player + prospect + pick for Hoffman. this trade is completely insufficient.

How is this a terrible trade for Ottawa? They are getting a top 2 24 year old RHS defenceman in Hamilton, a blue chip prospect in Valimaki who has a tremendous amount of skill and Sam Bennett. We all know what Sam Bennett can do when given the chance. Plus Stone and Mangiapane. This is an excellent trade for Ottawa who should be looking to rebuild.

Let’s not forget Karlsson is a UFA next year. Teams are only going to trade for him if they can resign him.

If I were the Senators and I was talking Karlsson, I'd want a package starting with Tkachuk.

Ok the trick here is to break down the trade by each player. What is for Karlsson and what is for Hoffman.

If I'm Ottawa and i'm leaning towards moving Karlsson than Hamilton, Bennett and Valimaki will be pretty close to something i'd want. So lets assume thats fine. Its the other part that is grossly under balanced. Stone and Mangiepane for Hoffman? i don't think so. Stone is a either a weak top 4 on most teams or a solid bottom pairing. That is nothing to ride home about. Yah i get that its mark Stones brother but that doesn't carry enough weight in a trade like this. Mangiane is nice but can he garner a player like Hoffman? Not in my books. Even in a down season on one of the worst teams in the league does he fit into 4th on CGY scoring.

IMO, remove Hoffman, Stone and Mangipane. Maybe add a draft pick and you'd be pretty darn close to what Ottawa will be able to get for Karlsson.

When are Flames fans going to stop pretending Bennett is an elite prospect? he is a third line winger, get used to it.

The Senators could get a better offer for Karlsson IMO, but even then they aren't going to trade him.
