There’s no fair contract superstar coming Edmonton’s way. U have the bad contract going each way (Lucic and Price), and I can see Patches=Talbot+the picks.
But Drai>Carey Price, and Byron’s only makin up for Price’s terrible contract. My point is I think the Habs need to add a 2019 1st.

The oils actually save money here 500000 cheaper even after retaining salary.. if the Habs are rebuilding they won't wanna have a team salary near the cap ceiling.

IF we trade Price 100% guaranteed we will not take a Goalie in the deal as the ONLY Motivation to move Price is if Niemi-Lindgren keep out playing Price like last year .
Plus we have Mcniven , Hawkey and Primeau in the mix with our 2 NCAA Goalies in the top 1/3rd of NCAA Goalies and Mcniven our Puck Mover about 3 years away from hitting his prime .

they add goal scoring and goaltending while re-investing in RNH as their #2 Center which is wise as its cheaper allowing EDM to build a depth Playoff Team as if they build off what the got they'll always be a strong top 6 team but lack the depth offensively , Cash to pay for a solid D or the money to lure in a solid goalie .

if VGK have shown us 1 thing this year its that you dont need to have a team full of top line all stars to be a dominate force plowing through teams on the way to a stanley cup.

cause some people just like to make trades though they should know most players won't waive mmc or ntc to out of playoffs teams. the trade is really lucic and draisaitl for price, the other short pieces don't have much meaning.

Lucic had 32 points this season, T47th among LW. That's the production of an average 2nd liner (31 first line LW / 31 second line LW, etc.). That's 47th out of 146 who played at least 10 games, or 68th percentile.

Price posted a 0.900 SP this season, 58th among 71 goalies goalies to play 10 games this season, or 18th percentile. That's among league worst back-up status, based on 31 starters and 31 back-ups.

IF he rebounds, blah blah blah. Don't expect anyone else to take on that risk. You signed the bad contract, you can keep it; we'll keep ours.

Talbot has ONE season left. Actually, if we want to get as finicky as you to use small sample sizes, he has performed best spectacularly as a backup.

C. Talbot is a starter if you ask me. An inconsistent one with a bad year this season, but would do fine as a starter on a team with proper defense, something EDM lacked badly this season.

It's as if you also forget that EDM would be taking a huge risk with this deal, because nobody knows if Price will ever rebound due to one of chronic fatigue, concussion history, or knee injury history.

Final words: Stop overvaluing your own players and undervaluing other players. Stop looking to rob others in trades. If someone is giving you a 1C in the trade, you're not in position to spit in their face. There are 20 other teams in this league that need a legitimate 1C in Draisaitl.

Verdict:

I'll do this trade with my eyes closed, and then ask you to hook me up with whatever you're smoking. No other GM is willing to take THAT much risk in Price. You're gambling that he rebounds (and if he does, you will look like a genius). But it's a heck of a gamble.
