Not bad Dirty! Not sure how keen the Wings would be to give up the 6 OA, but you've provided a very tempting offer I think.

Oh, and I meant to mention that I really hope Wahlstrom does go at #6, so the Canucks have more Dmen to choose from at #7.

So #14, #19, Simmonds and a 2nd* for the #6? That is bold.

"The Flyers have all the offensive D men they need!! Ghost, Provy, Sanheim and Myers all have great offensive capabilities, there is no reason to add Carlsson!"

Definitely agree. Ghost is way, way better than Carlsson. It is not even close. Provorov is way, way better than Carlsson. Again, it is not close. Sanheim and Myers are way, way better than Carlsson. It is ridiculous to think the Flyers woudl offersheet a kid with three career points

Oh, you meant John Carlson??? Huh. Yeah, he I guess could help a bit, but I agree the Flyers need to keep building around their young guys, rather than spend the 80 million it would take to get a Norris caliber free agent who's pushing 30. They already have MacDonald for expensive leadership and minute eating on the right hand side, and Carlson is likely to regress closer to his career average of 37 points, especially if he has to learn a new system and get used to working with all new people. Look at Shattenkirk in Washington or New York. Look at Paul Coffey anywhere but Edmonton. Still good, but sometimes an amazing offensive defenseman is a product of team chemistry. Or look at Ryan Whitney to see where they can be just entirely a product of passing the puck up ice to a superstar.

cheers

The problem with the Wings trade is two fold. A they do not need Simmons, they are rebuilding and he does not help them there, and two they are in need of a top level defenseman and by all accounts, Bovquist, Dobson, Bouchard and Hughes will be gone when they finally pick after the trade. Also having to give up AA on top of losing the #6 pick and missing out on a d-man hurts even more. Simmons is a very good player but at this time in point he is not what the Wings need. If they were 3 years and trending up, yes he would be invaluable but not at this moment of the rebuild.

I understand where you are coming from but it seems like DET needs some leadership desperately other than Zetterberg.

You know my feelings about bringing Spezza in but I like the overall creativity but it would be a tough sell to DET to give up a pick that high. I'm happy that someone finally took the time to make real lines and pairs and didn't buy out half the team for no reason haha

Spezza is just that 1 year filler as I don't think any of our prospects are ready for a 3C role. We could maybe throw Laughton in there for a year and get Vorobyov or Rubstov a year's experience. I left out Frost because I think he will end up being a winger for us.

Very similar to my last team I posted. I think you may have to find a third team to join the party with. I think all the teams around #5-#7 have no real need for Simmonds being his age and contract status. Maybe have a trade in place where the team you trade with is able to flip Simmonds to someone like Columbus or Dallas for futures picks or prospects

I feel DET needs some leadership and guidance outside of Zetterberg. Listening to Zetterberg talk this year seems like the kids have no clue what it takes to actually win games at the NHL level.

yeah i know as a one year filler but as crazy at it sound it feels like a downgrade to even Filppula. We'll see. I get the logic though.

It's hard to find someone who needs a goalie like Neuvy and we really need to move someone to make room for Hart in the AHL next year. I think Spezza can still be a solid player if he gets some talent to play with but he would definitely be a defensive downgrade from Filppula although he didn't do all that well this year either lol.
