They won’t trade him. Let’s say, they for some reason wanted to trade there franchise it would be Matthews, a first and probably another first. Just keep dreaming

I don't know if Buffalo would trade it for Matthews+Marner/Rielly/Nylander pick 2 of the three.

This isn't NHL 18 where if you keep adding value little by little it will even out, sometimes the cost to get a franchise player is an equivalent franchise player.

Cap space for 2019 /20? Only 13 players under contract, approx. 25 million left to spend and still need to sign Matthews, Marner, and Kapanen.
Why would James Neal sign a 1 year deal? If he or his agent is smart, they know his value has hit a new high and will want to lock in term.

You guys must not put trades on hard because no team will trade their 1st overall pick if there is a franchise prospect available even for 5 1sts.

Gardiner has more NHL points than Dahlin, so you should just see if Buffalo will do a straight trade. And then use Leivo to get Eric Karlsson out of Ottawa - they'll lose him to free agency next year anyways, so something is better than nothing, right?
