I think that a more than a fair deal!

If you cancel the Kovalchuk signing and offer to take Andrew Shaw from MTL in that deal (ie. keep it as is, just add Shaw), it's a better conversation, but still tough.

I don't see MTL moving Drouin (read: he's french and that's important). Plus, they've got a glaring need for left-shot LD -- and Mete is one of their best guys in that role for the future.

Take out Mete and the first trade is good because Draisaitl is Malkin 2.0 because he's overshadowed by McDavid even though he is a top NHL center. The rest of the trades are decently fair cap dumps, so those are pretty good. Kovy may sign for a cheap contract to play with McDavid, so the signings are good. Very nice team.

If Im the Habs I'd do this. Without even sweating. But it also depends on whose available at 10.

Montreal says thank you very much and celebrates this deal. Draisaitl(every team wants a center like LD) and potentially Bouchard or Smith(both unproven, but great prospects) for Drouin (bust so far), Zadina(unproven - great propspect) and Mete(Left shooting D and unproven)

Edmonton should run from this deal - it sets us back at least 2-3 years.

Yeah I know, that's what makes it tough to decide in advance. I guess if they do it, I hope they could land one of the center prospects also, is what I meant.
