Don't think there is any chance JVR takes a large discount, and a 2 year deal, to just cup chase. It's reported he has many teams in pursuit of his services. It will cost an overpay in both dollar and term to get him.

Could try for a guy like Rick Nash with those parameters. I could see him settling for a 2 year deal. Or you could go cheaper with a Maroon/Grabner type player. But remember you also need 2 more players on this team to make a 23 man roster.

Yeah that’s good. I’m tryna keep it as realistic as possible though it’s a possibility but would nash sign here?

I believe so. If he is aiming for a cup it would make a lot of sense.

i don't know if i would go after nash, i would prefer a guy like grabner if could get him for a reasonable costs.

If you are going with one of the previous WBS guys at 4th line center i think it would be blueger not simon. Ideally it would be Sheahan but since they didn't tender him and then they overpaid rust not a lot of room left but if they get grabner instead of JVR in your example that leaves them alittle more room to do so.

Also they definitiely should have Oleksiak next season as well, shouldn't be that costly(under 1.5m)

So maybe grabner for 2LW, Oleksiak for bottom D, blueger for 4C. Personally i would also switch rust and sprong but that's something sully can figure out in season. If grabner is cheap enough than get Sheahan for 4c (i think Sheahan could get for 2 but that's obviously more than blueger would cost).

can we just stop with the Kunitz on the 4th line already. He's 40, slow as hell, and does not fit what they are looking for.

JVR is a pipe dream for that. More likely to get a Grabner type player on a 2-3 year deal similar to Shearys deal since you’re trading him away. It gives you a cheap speedy winger that can drive offense with his speed, a great pker, and good defensively. Use the 5 million you save in cap to re-sign Sheahan and Oleksiak.

Your lines could look like this.
Guentzel-Crosby-Hornqvist
Rust-Malkin-Kessel
Hagelin-Brassard-Sprong
Kunitz-Sheahan-Grabner
ZAR
Simon

Dumoulin-Letang
Maatta-Schultz
Johnson-Oleksiak
Ruhwedel

it was just to fill up a spot. like I said this isn't permanent so I can change the line at any time. I didn't want to do that myself it was suggested. who do you think should fill his spot??

Also, I'd stay away from Jack Johnson, because he's not great rn and his play is declining considerably. It might be better to go after someone like Hickey, Sbisa, or Moore.
