I don't think this is even close to right value for Stone. Stone is far and away the best forward Ottawa has, and would be the best forward Montreal has too, by an even larger margin.

I think it would need to start with Juulsen and this years 1st, plus a guy like Hudon which is likely tough to swallow in MTL

Just a proposition, trying to see specifically what Sens fans opinion/reaction is. MTL's 1st isn't going anywhere. Especially for a 26 yr old who's never cracked 65 pts. He has potential no doubt. But there's a higher premium for the 2019 potentially 1st OAP.

Stone was producing at the same rate as Ovechkin prior to his injury. he was well over point per game. He's definitely worth the risk of losing a lottery pick.

I personally wouldn't want to trade him no matter what. I think he's to obvious choice to be captain once Karlsson is gone.

No thanks to moving MTLs 1st. but I don't even know what OTT would be interested in if they decided to move Stone, would they be looking for someone to replace him immediately? or a package of young players? either way, MTL wouldn't be involved, Dorion refused to moved Hoffman to a division rival (and still got screwed lol) zero chance he moves one of his best players to MTL.

Of course this posted trade is really low for Stone's value. Montreal who are or should be rebuilding wouldn't be bidding for services. A Cup contender is more likely

the thing about Dorion not dealing with division rivals is total bullshit by the way. He was willing to deal with Florida, but he wanted to get a roster player back, and Florida wasn't going to do that. Tallon even said that the deal that San Jose got was never even offered to Ottawa.

as far as a trade for Stone, I would imagine it would be one some young player who can immediately and be effective in a top 6/ top 4 role, a 2019 1st, a 2nd/3rd round pick this year or next, and a prospect with top 6/ top 4 upside.

Regardless, Dorion got embarrassed in the Hoffman deal. If he was willing to deal with FLA (I have my doubts), he was asking too much, or Tallon and Wilson conspired to make Dorion look bad. I'll go with the former.

Prepare to be disappointed. Panarin (who's most likely on the market) doesn't even get that type of return, and he's a superior player to Stone. If you expect a "young player who can immediately and be effective in a top 6/ top 4 role" you won't be getting that much else with him, maybe a decent prospect or a pick with him. remove that asset from your asking price, then you're pretty much guaranteed to get a "2019 1st, a 2nd/3rd round pick this year or next, and a prospect with top 6/ top 4 upside." you're not gonna get both.

Exactly. It wouldn't make sense for a team to trade a young player, most probably alot cheaper, and good enough to plug in the "top 4". Just keep the young player. Reminds me Bergevin when he's asking price for Pacioretty is a young #1 C. Who would even give that up? That's gold.

Better hope Kotkaniemi makes the Habsburg out of camp because if Andy Shaw and Plekanec are your two top centers...yikes!

Nah, let Kotkaniemi develop properly away from the Habs and run with Pleky and Danault (he's not getting traded). #Lose4Hughes

Yep, you bet! BTW, I hated for the Hawks to part with Danault, especially since the outcome of that ill advised was a disaster! Good for Phil to sign his recent extension with the Habs as well!
