The biggest bridge deal ever signed was Kucherov 3 years at 4.766M$ per, less than 2 years ago. Kucherov then > Nylander now. So I could see Nylander getting bridged, but for 3 years (100% sure) and for nothing more than 4.766M$ per (which would be a little less than Kucherov, in cap hit %). That would be the best bridge deal he could/should ever get, unless Dubas is an idiot, which I absolutely don't think he is.

I went on the high $$$ side of the bridge to show I wasn't a homer and was just trying to cheat on the cap. I really don't like a three year bridge cause it brings Nylander just one year away from being a UFA. hence the two year.

Looks good. The only problem is next year, when Matthews gets a $9+ million raise. Plus re-signing Kapanen, Johnsson, and especially Marner.

I mean look at how Stevie Y dealth with the Kucherov situation...a repeat of it with Nylander would be the PERFECT scenario for TOR. You give him 3 years and resign him long term after the second year. If he keeps up that level of play, he might get 7-8 years at 8-8.5M$ then. Because signing him long term NOW, he shouldn't get more than 6-6.25M$ per for 6-7 years. The Kucherov route is a win-win for both sides.

Well I posted next years. Gardiner and Hainsey gone....that's 7m, though the two positions have to be replaced. This year the Leafs are having a carrying over 2.8m in 2017/18 in Perf Bonus. I've included the 2018/19 4.5 m and Horton 5.3m on the roster. That's an addition 12.6m in free money next year. 12.6m plus 7m....Leafs will be fine next year for cap. Don't know why so many folks think the Leafs can't sign their own players coming off ELCs, other teams can.

I hope you're right. In particular, in your reply to EthanK24 is important to keep in mind.

I think that Nylander, especially on a 2 year deal, will get around 3.5 - 4.5 million per year. But I also think the Leafs are going to try and sign him long term, so they have clarity for the future, which will help in signing Matthews and Marner.

It didn't go perfectly. Tampa could've signed Kucherov for something like $6m AAV and we'd all be sitting here thinking it was a steal but, now Tampa has to pay him an extra 3.5 million.

He wanted big money and settled for a bridge deal. He was reportedly asking for Tarasenko's money/contract as starter (8x7.5M$). TBL has got him for 3 years of cup contenter with him being paid 4.766M instead of 3M$+ more a year. Next, they'll pay him a little less than 2M$ more a year that he was previousky asking (he's now a 100pts scorer!), which is a HUGE win for an organisation. If you can't understand that, I don't think you should comment in here anymore since you clearly lack in hockey management knowledge. Don't mean to be rude, here, it's just the truth.

You just said that it was a good thing that they have to pay him $2m more than he was asking. \sure it allowed them to be a contender in the short-term but, in the long-term it doesn't benefit them.

Ok pal. You clearly are the first and ONLY person in the entire hockey world to think that this situation wasn't an absolute steal for Tampa and that it shouldn't be repeated with other players in that "range" of talent.

Go away, now. Thank you.
