This is how you win - Trade the Core

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The forth line should be filled with cheap depth that can play on special teams.

Trade as much salary as possible to sign Karlsson Seguin Panarin and Stone. Not a bad summer. Trade Nylander plus for Parayko with money retained. Trade Marner for a Star with 3years of ELC plus a first. Trade Rielly for a young ELC and a 1st and 2nd. Dump Marleau to the sharks to retire. Matthews for Barkov and a first might be real risky but it gives the team 4 mil in cap savings and another first.

Signing anyone else to anything more then small contracts/bridge deals is the only option moving forward while the cap increases over time.

I thought it was by scoring more goals than the opponent.
Aside from Panarin having less than zero interest in Toronto, that Avs trade is atrocious.

Trade 3 is undervalued on Toronto and the rest are way overvalued on Toronto's side. Why would Wings make this deal. They are hard pressed against the cap and need to shed salary. Strong NO

Florida won't do that deal. I am not saying Barkov is better than Matthews, but Barkov is severely underrated.

You are honestly an idiot if you believe that. Matthews is a generational talent and is younger and better than Barkov. This like saying Florida wouldn't trade Barkov and a 1st for McDavid (yes McDavid is better than Matthews, but Matthews is the closest comparable player to McDavid in the league as far as value is concerned. They are the two young generational talents in the league.)

Hot take: Matthews may be “better” than Barkov, but Barlow is at least, if not more valuable than Matthews. Here’s why: Barkov is making 5.9 for the next 4 years. He might not score 40 but he’ll definitely be in the 30s with great defense. Matthews will ask for McDavid money and won’t give you nearly as much in his own end.

Have you ever watched Matthews play? He's already one of the better defensive players in the league and he's 20. Many top hockey people predict he'll be in the running for the Selke and Rocket Richard for years to come.

Matthews could score 60 goals a year in the near future, he's actually that good offensively and he'll have Tavares taking a tonne of pressure of him as well.
