I don't understand your opening statement. There are other teams that haven't the Cup since 1967 either. Sabres and Canucks haven't won at all, and they have been in the NHL almost as long. Folks remember the Flyers but they only two Cups were in 1974/5.

The last time the leafs made the finals was 1967. Sabres was 99. That's a bit of a time difference.

Thanks for the reminder, its not like every hater out there doesn't use it as their main come back.
