The Leafs would have to carry over all bonus money into next year. Then would do you jettison if you want to sign the big three. So I think cap wise it; not workable.
Dumba deal could work for both teams. But Faulk isn't that special. You've forced Hainsey to the 7th Dmen and Faulk certainly isn't know as been stout defensively.

I agree, I got greedy with this AC-GM for Right handed D men.

Good luck pulling Matt Dumba out of the Wilds of Minnesota. It will take a better package than that including the 1st rounder in 2019.

also i do not see nylnader signing for 4.5 mill. Min is 6 probably pushing towards 7.
on your trades here. in 2019-20 you will have 23 mill ( not including less for bonus overages) for 11 players. 2 are named matthews and MArner who will eat probably around 17-18Mill.
Leaving 6 mill for 9 more players.
proabably 4mill after getting proper value on the nylander contract

While I agree that Dumba would be impossible to get (I personally dont want him in Toronto) that package is overpayment from Toronto because we would be giving up on 4 NHL caliber prospects (one of them recent 1st rounder), NHL player and two other picks..

Thanks for acknowledging the "greed". IMO this "RHD to the Leafs" isn't greed but it's a damn silly obsession for many Leaf and non Leaf fans. ANY RHD to the Leafs at any cost seems reasonable to some fans.
You're on the path to being cured, now that you recognize the RHD obsession.happy

I see what you mean since the revised trade proposal's package of prospects is now a bit over the top. I think the right balance would be a bit less quantity and more quality - maybe Brown, Grundstrom and a 1st or 2nd rounder. Dumba is in theory a top-2 d-man now, and is under contract for 5 years.

Why don't you want him in Toronto - assuming he was available at some not too crazy price? Dumba seems like a really nice young piece to solidify Leafs defense for many years.

I would start from the last thing you mentioned and it is why I dont want Dumba. While I like his game a lot he is not so good in his own zone, he drives the game and is solid offensively (one of the best shooters), but Toronto does not really need offensive defender since they got now Gardiner and Rielly plus Sandin and Liljegren in the system who are going to be hopefully pretty solid. We more defensive defenders who are cheap but reliable. Also cap space would be problem after signing Matthews and Marner. Since Dumba is basically their no1 guy in Minnesota it would likely take Nylander to get Dumba since Minnesota would definitely prefer Nylander than prospects and picks. Quality beats quantity as you stated.

I think any NHL fan would agree the Leags are one elite RHD away from being a Cup contender roster. Unless Zaitsev plays like Niskanen, the Leafs should seriously target a Righty

Yeah, I'll admit I'm on that list, although mine is a "middling-cheap" RHD obsession.

Toronto doesn't need a Dman like Dumba!!! They've got enough offensive minded Dmen. Trade for a stay at home, hard hitting defender that can cover for Gardiner or Reilly. Someone like Hamonic, or maybe even Connor Murphy (who should be cheaper to acquire).

Toronto has already started rebuilding the defence. It’s called drafting and developing. Don’t listen to the haters. Our team is already better defensively for this season. Prospects will be rotating in and no more Jvr or bozak. Things will be good.

Dumba would be a free agent in 5 years, if he was signed for 8 years the deal would make sense 1 for 1 as Nylander is a 70+ point player

Timothy Liljegren is the biggest optimism for the future, Sandin can easily become a 5/6th D man, but it's only a matter of time before Gardiner and Hainsey leave making Rielly the only Veteran to tend up the young guns.

Ummm Ozhiganov??? That’s who I’m excited to see.

Zaitsev and Reilly will both have enough experience to hold the fort. Ozhiganov and Zaitsev do have a lot of pro experience they just lack nhl experience. I still think the khl experience is an asset.

Just heard about him this summer, how is he and what type of player would you compare him to?

Hard to say, he’s a big guy lays big hits hard shots and a sweet pair of mitts. I do not follow khl . I can only go by the videos I’ve seen online and what I’ve read.

Here’s what he brings for offence
https://youtu.be/BOeMJvo1FyQ
https://youtu.be/btVdV-EJ2K4

He’s a strong fast skater good gap control and loves to push a guy wide and lay big hit. Hopefully he can convert his game to the small rink.

What he brings is toughness on the backend with smart offensive game. I would compare him to Doughty in terms of playing style (not that high ceiling of course) from what Ive seen in KHL matches last year.
