You dream about trading away two NHL ready players, last year's first round pick and next year's first round pick for a defenseman who has been in the NHL for 8 seasons, never cracked 20 points or played more than 70 games?

THANK YOU! I will never understand this obsession with Tanev, the league has several players like him that preform better and are less injury prone.

Its a massive overpayment sure, but Tanev would be a sick pickup at the right price. He's a mobile, defensive defenceman who's very good at getting the puck out of danger areas.

No, No, No.

Maybe I missed the meeting where they handed out the "Tanev Kool-Aid". WHY oh WHY are people so crazed about this guy??? I have seen him play many, many times......Hes a dependable D man (when he isn't injured, which is a lot) so I'll give you that. But you are willing to give up 2 firsts and 2 NHL players for him?? This is crazy.

I think everyone knows my stance on our D and my unwillingness to chase after a stud Dman. I like what we have at home.

If we are having issues.. could be performance, could be injuries. I think Tanev would be the right type of D to go after. I don’t want any offensive D at all. Ability to move the puck and a sound Dzone guy. Vancouver is in the right situation to retain 50%. If we do not need him next season he would be an easy move at 2.2m. I could see this being more of a deadline type of move or even mid season. I think if we need to go after someone they have to be able to retain salary and be easily moved. I think Tanev meets all those requirements. Only had 8 teams on his m-ntc.

But to reconfirm what I already stated I have no reason to believe that our D core won’t be solid this year.

Please stop trading away our team for guys that will never get moved or guys that are horrible in their own end.

Sorry, neither trade makes sense. In particular, the Maple Leafs don't need another $4M salary on the blue line.

As I mentioned, it is a massive overpayment. I'd give a 2nd rounder and a B level prospect for him, or a 1st and a B level prospect if Vancouver retained half his salary. But anything beyond that is silly. It would be better to promote form within if its going to cost more than what I suggested.
