Pens - Big Trade with CHI

Created by: Sidstick87
Team: 2018-19 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 25, 2018
Published: Sep. 25, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just putting this out there for some feedback. Seemed fair for both teams ???
- Schmaltz would be a nice RWer for Sid and also a natural Center ( since PIT only has 9 NHL centers, lol )
- CHI 's Defense is scary thin on Left side and Maatta would be a great 2nd pair guy there.
- Sprong will be a great RWer for CHI
- Simon brings some depth to CHI bottom 6 that is very thin.
- Hayden brings some thump and speed to bottom of line up. PLUS is can be sent down without Waivers.
-Jokiharju a very good Right -Handed Dman prospect and a need for Pens.

I like it! It seems fair BUT I don't see it as realistic. Chicago won't want an injury-prone D and Pittsburgh is high on Sprong.

I'm sorry, but this is just plain bad and you have a 2nd rounder coming back to Pit in addition? Schmaltz is worth more then any two of the players you offered. His market value would be a 1st rounder and a solid role player alone. Jokiharju is one of the top 20 defensive prospects in the NHL system.

I think you have done a great job with this, but I just do not see Pittsburgh giving up any defense for offense because they already have that. I think it would make more sense of they were to trade a forward for a Top 4 defenseman or better.

IDK what list ur talking about but Pronman had Sprong at #27 overall and Jokiharju at #86 overall in top 100 prospects. But i really like his game and think he could be a good one.

thanks , was just thinking out loud and I thought it was fair too. IMO, it helps CHi more now and gives Pens more options at deadline. It would hurt to give up Maatta but we already have alot of money tied up in Dmen and also think Riikola mite have been a steal bc the kid is crazy good.

The Athletic but it was also under 20. Sprong is 21 and Jokiharju is 19. Jokiharju has higher upside IMO at this point. Even if you equal those two out. Maatta, Simon and a 5th certainly don't get you Schmaltz let alone Schamltz and a 2nd.

This just looks like another case of PIT fans overrating Sprong

Another Pit fan suggested Saad for Maatta and Chi fans said not a chance. Schmaltz is worth more then Saad. Schmaltz is the #1 player under 25 for the Hawks; a B+ player for sure and huge upside at only 22 years old. Maatta is a B or B- player...solid role player for sure but destined to remain a 2nd line pairing. Schmaltz is the next Toews.

This is a good trade imo. Maybe switch the second TO pit and have pens send a 2nd instead

This is not even close to enough value for Schmaltz. I may be a biased hawks fan, but there is no way in heck that goes through. You would at LEAST have to add another first and a Brian Rust Caliber player. Schmaltz is in Chicago for good though.

talk about overrating....

I don't necessarily think maata is equal to schmaltz but the next toews? lol

Meaning he's taking over the future 1C job for the Hawks as Toews slows. He's not going to be Toews in his prime, but he's not far behind him either. He has the ability to be a A- player and plays a two way game like Toews does. Toews in his prime was a A+ hard to beat that.

Trade a d-man to get an offensive man to Pens makes no sense at all. Our team had problems almost all season with the D and we always have one of the best offensive teams every single season. On the other hand, not in this world Hawks will trade Schmaltz. The kid has a huge value to their team. lmo

No problem. I'm not one of those jerks in this site who offends and screw other guys just because they have a different opinion of mine.

I respect every single one here who respects me at all.

And you're one of those guys, Sid.

Thanks, man. That's my point either. I'm here because I love this sport more than any other. I don't care that hockey isn't popular here in Brazil. The fact is hockey is the most exciting and fun sport of the world! Btw, I'm here also because I just wanna have some fun. I love to play GM mode on NHL video games. And I like to talk and know cool ppl. From different cultures. Here we have americans, canadians, europeans and at least one brazilian. Lol

I used to be part of a NHL whatsapp group, but I get married and then I just left the group, cause I spent a lot of time there and I thought that could be a problem in my relationship. Now, I have to control myself to don't spent a lot of time here. But it's not that easy. Lol

@ChiHawk @CrazyK04 I think this has been officially settled...as if it wasn't the moment it was mentioned... HAAAAAARD pass by CHI even if a 1st was added going to CHI. Jokiharju is the real deal. It'll be a long time before I get convinced he can actually anchor a line, but even today we can officially say he can play top 4 minutes and still be productive while under and ELC contract.
