Actually when the game was on the line last night, the Leafs played well defensively. If the Leafs are have more goals than their opponents, why do folks think the Leafs defence is so bad?. Logic dictates the other teams defence would be worse.

It's early.

But after 4 games, it's looking like the leafs are going to be the team with the highest Goals For and Goals Against.

That's existing! but is that really sustainable? especially in the playoffs?

I think it's more praise than hate. Matthews and Tavares are both beasts. PIT won (2) Cups and defense has been optional for them for a long time. Also, as you know, defensemen can be offense minded which doesn't mean "Bad" it just means they're busy pinching, carrying the puck forward, etc... rather than worrying about stopping the puck. It's a give and take. Just like forwards can be defensively minded....Selke It's all good!

Because the leafs defence is bad. So far they have played teams with equally bad D so yes the other teams defence was worse. Until they get some games in against other contenders and win the defense is going to be the big question mark.

That's exactly where Kapanen belongs! I really enjoyed watching the Gauthier-Ennis-Leivo line work last night. They were hard-working and kept possession in the Stars' end for the majority of their shifts. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gauthier play more 4C in the future while Lindholm gets better adjusted to the North American style of hockey playing the wing.

Well last year the Leafs finished with the best 12 GAA. No reason that can't be matched. I don't know why they would suddenly drop off to 31st in the league.

Sure things will get tighter in the playoffs, but with the firepower TO has, will they just quit scoring? Or will they win games 4-2 instead of 8-4?
