I think you might get either the two draft choices OR Poehling, but not both. You're right, though, Habs are desperate for a first-class LD.

You know I usually agree with you, Sammy, but Leddy looked awfully good to me in the two games out here this week.

You might get all that for Leddy if you take Alzner's contract with it wink

he's a quality second pairing defenseman. with montreal shifting gears to a younger faster pace offense, they need a guy to help move the puck and drive possession from the point.

Dmen take a long time develop,. a Dman making it to the NHL before 23 is rare, even in today's NHL.

habs top 4 consists of 2 d men who weren't even high picks are playing top 4 mins. mete was a 4th rd pick in 2016 and juulsen a late 1st rd pick in 2015 both are under 22. if we draft high, pretty sure they could play sooner then later.

or you could develop them and bring in a top 4 right now that you can still flip later if a drafted D prospect develops early. there is a difference between playing in the NHL and being NHL ready

i dont think mtl is at that point this season of trading any futures for older developed players. like juulsen as a rookie D man is playing a shade under 20mins a night, and yes he's not racking up points, but he 2nd in the league in plus/minus. he's really good defensively. plus we have veteran help on the back end. shiet we have the most respected D man and role model in the league in shea weber (according to the latest nhlpa polls)

A don't ever use plus minus: it is the dumbest stat ever. B shea weber; not playing daawg C. Maybe but if they're in a position to make the playoffs, I think they pull the trigger to get more offense out of their back end

no. i think the organization finally realized what they've been doing wrong for many years. best way to acquire elite talent is to draft it. quick fixes wont help
