the pens won't spend their cap space on that. They are letting it build to trade deadline. I think it's estimated at 6 million at trade deadline + IR. They will find a quality Dman with that much cap space.

Wideman's salary is $1M. Not really wasting anything.

It could make a huge difference is they go for a big fish at the deadline.

NO way from the jets. Perreault is not a cap dump. he is worth at least a 2nd and 4th. and not having a 1st for 3 years in a row is somethin chevy will not even think about

Well, would Jets do it if the 2020 pick is a 2nd rounder?

The Pens don't really have a pressing need for another replacement-level defenseman like Wideman. What's the going rate for DeMelo?

At deadline I expect and HOPE for Ottawa to move: Smith, Ceci, Pajaarvi, Pyatt and Dzingel (if he wants over 4M) ...and maybe Wideman (depending on if we can get a RHD like Michael Stone from Calgary). But I'm really hoping they re-sign Duchene because we'd be a much worse team next season (and beyond) without him.

That is exactly the point. that 1 mil of cap space multiplies by trade deadline.
