That Minnesota trade is God awful. A top pairing dman, a 30 goal winger and a lottery pick for basically nothing....

Hornqvist scored 29 goals last year and rust has pretty similar production to zucker this year. Shultz has been hurt all year but hes a top pairing Dman on a lot of other teams just not the Pens because of Letang.

Well if you call Zucker a 30 goal scorer because he reached that 1 time in his career, then by your logic so is Hornqvist. Idk how you call that return basically nothing. Hörnqvist has more goals this year than Zucker, and rust has 1 less. Schultz is also a top 4 dman. I’m not saying this trade is exactly fair, but Pitt is giving up a ton of talent

Dallas says no.
Detroid says no.
I don't think there is any way GMJR does the MIN trade. They give up more talent than they gain. They could easily do better moving those pieces separately.
Schultz alone would get you a 1st and a really good prospect at the least.
I have no desire to trade Rust.
I think Horny should hang it up after this year, but that's me. Too many concussions. He's got nothing left to prove. Long term IR enjoy retirement.

I have to agree Detroit isn't trading AA, and they already have enough bad contracts without JJ.

Ok so you all realize that Zucker is the same age as Rust and has out produced him every year, Hornqvist is 31 and only ever played 1 full season because he gets injured so often (also means he never gets over 60 points even when playing with Crosby and Malkin) and Schultz could barely hold down an NHL job anywhere outside Pittsburg. All that plus 2 second rounders for a top pairing 24 year old defenceman (the youngest player, the most talented player and the one with the best contract), a top 6 winger and a lottery pick.

So I repeat this trade is God awful for Minnesota, Hornqvist, Rust and Schultz do nothing to improve Minnesota, all 3 would likely be sold off for picks inside of a year when this team goes down in flames in a year, the GM that made the trade would also likely get fired.

The problem is you called the return "basically nothing", which is a stupid comment. You're talking about Shultz's career in EDM which is pointless considering the fact nobody succeeds there. Look at what Taylor Hall is doing since he left. Shultz is easily a top 4 dman. Rust will put up his 15 goals a year, but he's extremely responsible on defense and one of the best pk players in the league. Hornqvist has 8 20+ goal seasons, and on his way to his 9th season with 20+ and his 6th straight. He's also a physical player and one of the best players to play right in front of the net. PITT is giving up a lot more value than you think

I'm not saying thier horrible players but this is an NHL 19 trade. You just throw a bunch of pieces to get better pieces. It's a trade that in 5 years people would look back on and wonder what Minny was thinking, Dumba could compete for a Norris in the next 2-5 years as he hits his prime, and that lottery pick is most likely a top 6 or top 4 player. Unless Minnesota hits on one of those second round picks they just get 3 players that bring them closer to the bottom of the league than the top and all three players probably aren't on the team in 5 years, that's basically trading away your future for nothing.

Thats the thing, pitt isn't giving up spare parts. Both wingers play top 6 min and Schultz is a top 4 dman. Pittsburgh would be stupid to make that trade right now because they are giving up 3 solid starters and all of them are key and important players for them.
