I'd probably do this if you switched Frederic to Grzelcyk or Cehlarik + Bjork.

I don't think it'd be a great move to give up on any of the teams center prospects (JFK, Frederic, Studnicka) without getting a true 1st line forward back in the deal because they could all amount to 2nd line forwards just by themselves and to convince someone to trade you a current 2nd line forward you'll have to add something on top of them which in this case was the teams most valuable pick in 2019. That makes the deal easier to pass on for me even though I like Kase a lot.

I don't understand why you want to trade Grizz so much. He is in our top 6D right now, the guy out is Moore, and is in the words of Cassiday. Frederic looks like a top 9 again this year and I don't mind him traded. Cehlarik and Bjork both have higher value than him (Cehlarik looks to be at even value but he is NHL ready and Bjork could potentially become a weak top 6, strong top 9 foward). I know we are going to be really hard on C for the future but don't forget Cave, Fitzgerald (I have no idea if he is going to crack the NHL lineup anytime soon or he will ever but he looks quite promising as a top 9/fourth line forward), and Hughes (looks better and better for years on, looks to me like a top 9 foward as well...). And maybe Lauko or even Smith (don't think he will get that long with this organization). Seems like a fine deal with me, but I would rather not give up a first... Maybe Blidh and a 2nd or 3rd?

a 7th round pick could become a 2nd line forward just by themselves. That's a meaningless argument.
Just looking at the play of JFK I don't know where you come up with that. 5v5 70% of his starts are in the offensive zone. He has 3 goals 3 assists and a corsi below 50%.
That isn't anything close to what a good 2nd line player looks like. A 3rd liner or 4th liner maybe but there is no way they would allow a 4th liner to have that many starts in the O zone. Looking at the numbers I'm kind of shocked they give that many starts there to JFK who is clearly ineffective. Tells you what they think of his defensive ability if they aren't willing to ever start them there.

When you wonder why the team has no secondary scoring it's players like that who are the problem. What players had to bust their tail to get them into that position so they could be totally ineffective starting in the offensive zone. Maybe those players should be taking those shifts and JFK can see if he can contribute anything in the defensive zone before being sent down to the AHL.

The fact you are unwilling to trade him for a 23 year old player with a 5v5 57.2% corsi starting 56.3% of his shifts in the offensive zone putting up 10 goals is the reason why you won't have any secondary scoring. He is such an upgrade over JFK it's not even funny. Hell the only thing of any real value in that proposed trade would be the 1st. And you think that wouldn't be worth it?

More awful takes...

Grz is expendable because we a ton of LHD in the system. Vaak can give you what Grz does and hes cheaper. Lauzon can play in the NHL right now and hes cheaper. Moore just signed a 5 year deal and plays both sides of the defense...and does what Grz does.

Chelarik sure as hell doesn't have a higher value than Frederic. Bjork maybe, but not Cehlarik

Fitzgerald and Cave are fringe NHLer's
Hughes is a wild card
Lauko is a wing in the NHL

Btw please show me where Cassidy said Frederic looks like a top 9 guy. Is Cassidy projecting him as that for his career or just say right now at his age hes a top 9. I mean top 9 for being your first pro your is probably a compliment lol.

Anaheim shouldn't really take anything less. Well, honestly, they shouldn't take anything at all. Considering what people are willing to give up for Simmonds as a rental, Kase is the clearly better player on 3 x 2.6, and is an RFA even after that. This would be a steal, and it would solidify the top 6 for real. He's a strong defensive contributor as well as on a point per game pace of 60 this year - on maybe the worst offensively talented team in the league. He's so underrated and is going to get noticed as exactly that by everyone next season if not by the end of this one.

I know prospects are exciting, but they're almost certain to be overvalued. The expected value of a prospect that's 20 y/o and still not in the league is declining fast if he's not lighting up one of the men's leagues.
