Probably fair if Edmonton retains 50% on McDavid and tosses in Draisaitl.

Like I can't fathom you thought Edmonton would add a 1st Round Pick with the best player on the planet AND take back a cap dump.

Ok, fair enough, the first was a stretch, but point is getting closer to mcdavid level talent (not saying he'll ever get there), add in arguably the best d-man prospect in the league and another top tier prospect, and you probably are over McDavid's value. The only way tampa's able to afford this is if they throw in callahan or miller. I chose callahan, you could switch him out for miller, idc. Seemed fine to me, you can take out the first, then I think that Point, Foote, Raddy, and Callahan/Miller for McDavid is fair.

Then you don't understand the implications of trading the literal best player in the game.

Connor McDavid has no fair value: no matter what you move him for, you're always trading the best player away. The ask from Tampa Bay, who becomes a contender for another whole decade with McDavid, probably starts with Point, Sergachev, Foote, Raddysh, possibly picks, and then finally money to make the deal work. No team can afford to trade for him; at a certain point it's just not worth it.

Probably my bias talking, but if that offer came to me I'd accept it.
And also, in no way am I saying this would ever happen. A trade like this hasn't happened in a long time (Gretzky). I don't think it should happen, the only thing I was looking at is fair value. Let's just agree to disagree about the fairness.

Is nobody going to point out the fact that this guys thinks Point is getting close to McDavid's talent level?? Over the last 3 seasons, McDavid has 110 more points than Point. Don't get me wrong, Brayden Point is a stud, but Connor McDavid is a pure generational talent, something that Point will never be. You absolutely do not trade a generational talent in today's day and age.

I have no problem saying that Point is not that close to McDavid, but Point is on pace for over 100 points this season and will get better as time goes on, so imo, he is also a generational talent, not as good as McDavid but still incredible.

Also, Point can kill penalties, shut down top lines, run his own line, win faceoffs, almost equal McDavid’s speed.... all for 3 million cheaper. I know I’m going to seem crazy, but I’d almost rather Point to McDavid. McDavid’s cap hit is an anchor, he can’t win faceoffs, and he’s just not Point’s calibre defensively. He the best offensive player in the league by a mile, but top heavy teams struggle to win cups. Raddysh could be a 60+ point guy, Foote a top line D, and Point a number 1 center. Depth, and 200+ points a year with lower cap for McDavid? No from me.

I see what you're saying, and I agree with most of it, but McDavid isn't bad defensively either. Point isn't that good on faceoffs, and with better teamates (Kuch and Stamkos) McDavid could be a 130+ point player every year. I think it's a fair deal for both sides.

I see what you’re saying too, but if you trade Killorn, Johnson, Miller, and Callahan, you could sign Panarin, and get high end prospects in return. And Panarin could easily be a 100 point guy with Kuch and Point. So could a guy like Stone. You’ll have zero cap space after the McDavid trade to have any RHD depth on the team at all. And the future is limited. Right now they are built to be a contender for the next 5-7 years. That’s better than winning the cup this year and becoming Chicago in three or four years. Yeah the value is fair. And McDavid would be an Art Ross lock for the next 7 years. But I rather the trajectory that they are on. Why not take a swing at Panarin? Cirelli, Stamkos, Point, and Barre-Boulet is a solid center lineup. Kucherov, Raddysh, Gourde, and Fortier on one side, and Panarin, Joseph, Volkov, and Katchouk on the other in an unheard of forward depth. Sergachev, McDonagh, Hedman, Cernak, Foote, and Perbix, with Vasilevskiy and Ingram, plus Stephens, Somppi, and Masin/Spencer/Salda on the bench. That’s crazy as is.
