The premium for a RD defenceman is massive - let a lone a cap friendly, 24 year old puck moving D man... Not to mention including Brown is a favour for cap relief

Taking brown is a privilege not a favour.

Massive overpay for montour also adds money... not a good move. Kappy for montour would work much better.

I like all the contracts you signed. It’s nit picking but I think you can get borgman for less like we signed Rosen. Rosen is the Marlies top d man and got 750k so you could probably get borgman at that as well.

I’m a big fan of montour and would love to get him but I do think it’s a slight overpay. He is a RFA after his contract is up so controlled but I think a package like liljegren, brown and a 2nd could do it. If they prefer Moore or Johnsson then no picks involved.

The zaitsev deal works for me even if we have to add picks. Just clear the cap space

Thank you! Yeah tbh I wasn't too sure with some of the RFA signings- I saw their previous contracts and thought i mine as well match them but if we could get them for less I'm all for it. Yeah I felt I was overpaying for Montour as well I just felt the high premium on a RHD whose not only offensive but young would be very high. Also, thought process behind the high price was the benefit of not having to include Johnsson which would be a massive benefit to the Leafs if they could pull of a Montour deal like that
