Drouin for Gost

Created by: Poehling
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 29, 2019
Published: Mar. 29, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is a Drouin trade that make sense for both team. With Provorov Sanheim Gostisbehere all LHD, Philly can trade one of those 3. IMO, Lehkonen will be a top 6 winger, having a rough year to put the puck in the net, but he’ll find is finish soon. When KK,Poehling/Suzuki Danault will be ready to play 1C 2C 3C, Domi might go back on the LW. Sign Kulak a 1yr/deal because he as been pretty solid, giving time to Romanov for another KHL season with top 4 minutes at 19 ^^. Every year, Bergevin makes a big move one on one, ex : Subban-Weber, Sergachev-Drouin, Galchenyuk-Domi. What do you think ? Ryan Poehling, Jimmy Schuldt and Josh Brook are heading to Laval for at least an AHL season.

Just use Domi. MTL has good amount of young centers coming (Kotkaniemi, Suzuki, Poehling) etc.

What do u think about

Jonathan Drouin for Brady skjei?

Both young and the same age.
Montreal needs a young defence.
Skjei is a bit cheaper and is locked up for awhile.
Drouin is hot and cold.

What would we need to add if anything for this trade?

Don't acquire Gost for MTL, Habs need a good top 4 LD who can play well defensively and has a decent body frame.
Yes, Gost is good offensively, but defensively isn't. Pairing him with Weber or Petry isn't going to be good for MTL, Weber isn't as effective defensively as he used to be, has trouble keeping pace, and Petry is even worse than Weber defensively.
As for the bigger frame, when games get more physical, Gost will continually get rocked around and he'll be even less effective. That's exactly what's happening with Mete, currently the only LD who can play with Weber in MTL.

MTL need a quarterback on the PP & Weber’s good defensively. I know you want Hedman, but isn’t happening

Never said Weber is bad defensively, what I said is he isn't as effective as he used to be, he's slowing down and sometimes has trouble keeping up with faster forwards. If the Habs want to acquire a defenseman, they should start by acquiring one that won't be a total liability defensively and could chip in offensively, so they'll be able to help out Price from time to time and not force him to steal as many games. Gost won't help Price out. If they want offense, they should go after a forward before a d-man.

Also, when did I write that the Habs are able to acquire Hedman? Completely random addition to your comment

Drouin + Armia or Lekhonen for Ratcliffe and Gostisbehere ?

Ghost career PPG: 186 points in 294 games = 0.63PPG
Drouin career PPG: 193 points in 318 games = 0.60PPG

I get that ghost isn’t good defensively but neither is drouin. I like the base of that trade but Habs certainly have to add. Ghost has more value as an offensive D than drouin does as an offensive winger

The potential of Drouin, that’s why MTL doesn’t have to add. If he plays with a good center, he can reach 80+ points. That’s worth Gostisbehere

He was drafted in 2013. Ghost was drafted in 2012. Ghost has already proven and reached his offensive potential. He just has to clean up his defensive game. Drouin hasn’t proven much at an NHL level other than being a good top 6 winger. I’ll take ghost all day over drouin and most people on here would as well. I like the idea but Habs certainly have to add.

Even if you have Provorov & Sanheim before Gost. Drouin’s better than JVR & Lindblom

Wait, the guy MTL fans are blaming for missing the playoffs in a year they were never supposed to be close is worth Ghost? Amazing that he sucks but he gets quality pieces back.

He doesn’t suck, he’s our best LW. Hard year, still have more than 50 points

I believe sanheim plays a lot of right side. I think drouin SHOULD be better than JVR but I’d probably take JVR over drouin at this point. Like I said it’s a good base but Habs have to add. Ghost has more value than drouin

That’s my point. He’s exactly what MTL thought they were getting a speedy playmaking wing with some defensive deficiencies. Every MTL post on here is a Drouin trade for no reason.

Mtl needed forward cause Radulov walk out, with Domi being that good, with Kotkaniemi Suzuki ( Pacio trade ), Drouin’s the key piece to get our LHD
