Description

Kings take on Lucic and Larsson contracts without retention in order to acquire the #8 overall pick. Send Kovalchuk back at 50% retained to give McDavid a quality winger to play with at a reasonable salary cap that expires before the expansion draft. Edmonton also gets Campbell, a goaltender that put up exceptional numbers playing for a terrible team this season, while under contract for $675k for another full season. Gives them a cheap backup option in case Koskinen doesn't work out. Edmonton also gets Kings 3rd round pick (#64 overall).

Other trades aren't meant to be accurate offers of what the Kings would receive in return. Just that those players would get shipped out for picks and/or prospects.

Kings would probably be terrible for another season, but would be able to add significant talent in 2020-21 when Kupari, Zegras, Byram, Clague, Durzi, and Anderson should all be NHL ready.

Lucic plays on the 4th line or as a healthy scratch until 2021 when he's bought out so he doesn't require protection in the expansion draft.

Huge no from the Oilers. Larsson is actually good, there's no need to ship out his salary. Lucic, sure, but they're not giving up their #1 RHD too.

Montreal would take Martinez & Toffoli for Hudon(4th), Reilly(2nd), 2nd+ 5th.... more or less the same value that you are getting from MTL & BOS.
