I watchd Edmundson play last night and thought he was fine. What do you think his next cap hit would be? Maatta is still a good option for the Penguins, he is just screwed because of Jack Johnson & Erik Gudbranson contracts. Sucks for him honestly

My guess is 3-4 years, around 3-3.25 million. I am just worried we will overpay him or he will want more

Listened to the 31 thoughts podcast this week, they mentioned the Pens have tried to trade Maatta for a while but his trade value around the league is low. Not sure Blues do that if that’s the case

I want to trade Edmundson and sign Gardiner. I like Edmundson, but that horrid Bouwmeester contract makes it real hard to give out money to another defenseman who can’t move the puck

who will we trade Edmundson to and for how much? I like the idea of Gardiner if it is a reasonable contract. We need a powerplay QB

How is Bouwmeester's contract horrid? It's 3.25M and he has been playing really well.

I'm so glad there is at least one more Blues fan out there who thinks Doug Armstrong foolishly gave a one year extension to Jblow. I admit he's played much better the past three months, but why oh why oh why give valuable cap dollars to a 35 year old guy who is great with the stick, can still skate a bit but cannot move you out of the zone quickly and his bread-and-butter shot is the "miss the net and bounce off the boards and hope someone gets a clean rebound" shot. 52 years of frustration and counting.....

I agree Beast that it's not "horrid." However, the league is CLEARLY (except to Doug Armstrong) getting younger and faster and Army still thinks this is the 90s when Hull won him his only cup. Youth, speed, puck movement, the fore and back checks win now. Bouw is old, now has average to above average speed, no longer moves the puck well, and his checking is average. He's not the worst option (see Jack Johnson), but I would have liked to have used those dollars on something else. Perhaps STLBlues17 was embellishing a bit but thinks similarly.

He wasn’t playing really well though. Sure he looked fine, but that was because he’s playing with Parayko and also Jordan Binnington has a .950 save percentage with Bouw on the ice. When you isolate impact, you’ll see that Parayko has been better with every other defensive partner and that Jay Bouwmeester hurts him whenever they’re together. Bouwmeester has gotten caved all playoffs (especially by Winnipeg) and is still a top-10 worst defenseman in the league.

I’m not wrong though, by all metrics he’s been hurting his team for the last 3 years

Personally the idea of getting rid of Edmundson is a great idea, but I don't like the idea of bringing in Maatta he is more of a defensive liability than Bouwmeester has been.
