What I would actually trade for Nylander

Created by: Kyle_Davidson
Team: 2019-20 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: May 10, 2019
Published: May 10, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The guy is overpaid. He is gamble by every stretch of the word.

Soderlund article
https://thehockeynews.com/news/article/chicago-pick-tim-soderlund-looks-like-the-next-viktor-arvidsson

Beaudin is going pro, and in this ACGM I’m hoping for be a Jokiharju level surprise.

As far as the cap situation goes
Crawford is expiring, let him walk/retire, save 5 mil (bring up lank for backup,)

Trade Anisimov or Saad as needed.

Trades
CHI
  1. Nylander, William
Additional Details:
My putting him on the top line does not insinuate that I believe he is a top line forward, just that I think he would be a good fit for the Toews line. Besides everyone knows that whatever line Kane is on is the top line in Chicago.
TOR
  1. Fortin, Alexandre
  2. Murphy, Connor ($1,850,000 retained)
  3. Söderlund, Tim
  4. 2020 3rd round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
Fortin should be an every day nhl player next season, on a low ca- hit.

Söderlund is a interesting prospect (Hailed in hawks circles as the next Arvidsson)

You would need to pay more for supposed gamble who had 60+ point seasons in his first two full years..

Just a typical Hawks fan, "Nylander is overrated and not worth much at all, we are helping you out by taking him off your hands since we all know how bad he is. Please accept this trade, we want him to play huge minutes for us because we desperately want him."

You guys are hilarious.

I’m not a fan of that Arvidsson comparison. Soderlund had 14 points in the SHL this year and Arvidsson at the same age had a remarkable 40 points in 50 games.

That wouldn't be enough for the Leafs to make that move.

I'm not a Leafs fan, and I definitely think most of them blow it out of the water when it comes to thinking every single one of their prospects will be the next greatest of all time, but yeah, this isn't close.

If someone is taking "a gamble" on Nylander, they're going to have to give up something with more value than a so/so dman, a fringy prospect, another fringy prospect, and a 3rd round pick.

Cool, keep him. Look at all those seasons where he scored 60 points.

Hes really not overpaid. Even if he was, is 200k really going to break a team?
This is not a good offer imo, nylander is a frustrating player as he has the potential to be a 80+point guy. As of now he is a 22 year old averaging a 0.68 ppg in 239 games which is really solid.
The offer would have to include a young top 4 d, not a pile of scraps and a #5 dman who produces no offense.

Why not simply Nylander for Gus + Hayden?
Gus as a amazing breakout year and Nylander need a reset... maybe next to Capt Toews?
(1,7M next year would help Toronto keeping Kappy, Brown and solidify is LHD with the lost of Gard's)

Whoof.

Player A's Age 21 season: 61 pts (74 pts in 103 NHL GP to that point)

Player B's Age 21 season: 4 pts (6 pts in 19 NHL GP to that point)

AHL numbers:

Player A: 45 pts in 39 GP
Player B: 86 pts in 165 GP

I wonder which one is player A and which one is player B?

I wonder who will score more points next season. Nylander or Saad. I am pretty certain we both know who its going to be, health permitting of course.

Why? Because other fans want him on their team and dream that a poor half season where he missed training camp and struggled catching up to the rest of the league and that means he's worthless now and can be picked up for pretty much spare parts. No, he'll be a Leaf and he'll have one of the best contracts in the league moving forward. Especially if he plays with Matthews.

Have you seen how he plays? He just super soft, doesn't keep the puck, and scores on his own freaking goalie, all while having a cap hit of 10 million

I get it...I'm also a Hawks fan, but I dont want Nylander on the Hawks. He is a play maker. A decent one.
And young. Now the negatives. He's Not a 2 way player. He cant drive his own line. Hes not worth $7M. Any team trading for him is purely trading for potential...and OH make sure you have potential HOF players on your team. Hawks actually fit that bill like TOR too. FORGET ALL THAT, the #1 indicator is that Dubas is kicking himself for this signing. Nylander won the hold out and stunk this year.

I have seen him play a lot, clearly more than you. Since you are basing your entire opinion of him on one play where the puck skipped over his stick and ended up in the back of the net.

it's still bad. Gus is 27 and just put together his first full NHL season, a very legit one but , before that he was a fringe NHLer, that is due to become a UFA next year. Hayden is 24 year old fringe NHLer, not even worth talking about. If Gustafsson had more control or was younger and had some RFA rights, sure maybe, but age and control matters.

Start with reasonable offers. Something like Boqvist or Joker would make it more realistic. Think about the Jones / Johnanssen trade as a good baseline, not these EA NHL trades where you keep adding pieces until it works.

Funny how he isn't a two way player but creates turnovers more than the vast majority of players. Yes he can be a little soft at times, but most of the negatives that are now painted on Nylander's game are just media idiots trying to rile up fans. He back checks hard, always, which is why he creates so many turnovers in the offensive and Neutral zones. In the playoffs, his line controlled the majority of shots, chances and scoring against Boston. That was despite having probably the 2 worst wingers on the team for linemates in Marleau and Brown. (check advanced stats if you are going to make claims like you did, when you do, you'll see that Marleau is analytically terrible and Brown has no hands, and yet Nylander was positive across the board in the playoffs centring the 3rd line. Had he had any sort of shooters with him, that could have been a difference maker.)

The reality is, Dubas probably wishes he would have had Nylander at training camp but regrets very little, why? Because a guy who scores 60+ points twice before he turned 21 isn't a bad player. He's a young guy who will continue to grow as a player and that is exactly why all you fans want him on your team. Its clear as day, just be honest and say, you really hope TO for some stupid reason, gives up on him and you can get him for cheap. That's what all this Nylander Sucks bluster is all about.
