Zucker was discussed, but our beat writer has said earlier this year that Fenton wasn't willing to move Dumba (the context was in a Nylander trade). Personally, the only players on the Leafs I'd move Dumba for would be Marner or Matthews, and those two are going to be career Leafs.

Bahaha, then you sneak Dumba in there. A pile of crap for Dumba and zucker. Unreal. Between this and the pesce trade this is one of the most ridiculous leaf homer acgms ever made.

Edit: didn’t even notice that we’ve got Ottawa paying 3.833 million to Marleau.

This is a solid F.

Nylander will be traded before his contract his over and Matthews will hit the UFA and sign with an American team, Marner may be the only career Leaf. And why would the Leafs want Zucker (his corsi stats maybe? Dubas judges talent on the spread sheet not on the ice). He is no Darcy Tucker.

Hey, I'm not the one running the Leafs so I don't know why they'd want him. All we know is that Zucker was discussed on trade talks with the Leafs. Here's the quote from our beat writer in his article today:

"Besides Pittsburgh, sources say at least some of the teams interested in Zucker include the Vancouver Canucks, Arizona Coyotes, Anaheim Ducks and, once again, the Flames. Fenton has at least inquired about Christian Dvorak and Christian Fischer in Arizona (the Coyotes don’t want to trade Dvorak), Sam Bennett and Michael Frolik in Calgary and Jonathan Marchessault in Vegas. Last June, Zucker’s name came up in trade talks with Toronto and Carolina, too."

Maybe last June means Dubas wanted to send hometown boy "Mr. Minus 5 in Game 7 against the Bruins "Gardiner to Minne for Zucker.

Who knows. Russo didn't say what player on the Leafs end was talked about, only what I quoted. I'd be pretty surprised if it was Gardiner unless we had a separate deal set up to move Brodin.

The wild need to add... who wouldn’t want to pay the leafs bills... melnyk loves spending money.

Ottawa want cap without salary. Marleau saves them 5m real cash. They likely won’t want to spend real money on UFAs. Add in if needed. Just remove Marleau.

Muzzin gives them a peice for next year while potentially resigning Muzzin. Add a better player then Brown or add a prospect. Or trade a Muzzin for a decent return and use those assets for a RHD.

How does Marleau save them real money? They'd need to buy him out prior to July 1st, so he'd be off the books before next league year.

Well if the buyout wouldn’t work he could just retire. He is out of those Reebok skates. Maybe he would take the hint lol
