I like the trades, not a big fan of chiarot. Especially being a lefty. Think there may be a few righties in ufa we could get rather than him. Lots of lefties and righties that can fill the bottom pair when Dermott gets back.

Would you prefer say McQuaid over Chiarot?
I like Chiarot is better imo

So...all the trades except for the Marleau one are good imo.
I am not convinced the Leafs can move on from Marleau without taking on a similar but lesser cap hit.

The Marleau situation is the trickiest it seems although some may say other things are trickier.

I forgot to add that if Kadri is getting traded then adding a guy like Maroon is almost a must. I'm not a huge fan or anything but minusing Kadri means maybe adding some grit/sandpaper via free agency.

I prefer taking even less of an asset back over retention
Kings came to Leafs though, I do admit it will say require them dumping Toffoli in another trade though

I'd be okay with replacing the Magnus signing with Maroon, making Brown a 4th liner

How much $$$ does he get though?
He had a good playoff imo

Actually I would, I don’t remember seeing chiarot play the right but maybe I’m mistaken. But I would pay Mcquaid less. I think mcquaid might see the value in signing a 1 year deal on a team that puts him on the ice. Maybe 1-2m I think would do unless there is another team that will outbid is for him. He’s not as quick as he use to be(which was never very fast) but he is still smart and could help out and maybe mentor one of Rosen or sandin on the bottom pair when Dermott returns. Meme that is another name that comes to mind.

I think we need a D man at the 4 spot that can eat minutes.
Like you said about McQuaid, I dont think he is good choice for that.

What about Gunnarsson?

Toronto has 3 options to move Marleau.

1. Retain till he is neutral value, around 2m
2. Take back a bad contract that can be buried or bought out.
3. Move some assets if he is willing to go to a team that has no cap worries. Like Arizona. Maybe a 2nd. To Arizona marleau is a guy that will produce 40 points for 1.5m not 6.25m. Do not confuse this with the Avs. The Avs can spend to the cap limit if they chose.

Like the Marleau and Zaitsev trades if the Leafs can pull them off. Especially Zaitsev can he be traded cap free? Don't like the Calgary trade though. Kapanen and two picks for a one year rental and maybe non NHLer ever. Don't understand the Kadri trade. If Avs want immediate help,,,maybe they trade for Kadri. But if Leafs want immediate help, maybe they keep Kadri. Isn't that why you traded for Hamonic?

Sorry I typo’d that, “meme” is actually suppose to be Nemeth, if the Avs don’t resign him. Again same problem as chiarot or Gunnarsson... lefties. We have plenty of those.

Just go

Okay I get what you are saying but Marleau has veto rights and until he says otherwise, Arizona is not an option.
We all know why LA is being considered and the cap situation there is not great either.

To me Kadri has 2 strikes with Leafs, cant afford for #3.
I think Kadri needs a fresh start and with Avs hed be #2C

Jost can help us I think

Both Hamonic and Jost could be resigned imo

It's just not a good fit, I also prefer Rielly on the left. Plays so much better

If dubas was in negotiations with Arizona as reported by multiple sources then Marleau has okay’d it. Before Dubas would do anything with another GM he would have sat down with Marleau.

I get the feeling that Marleau gave him the go ahead to trade him to any western conference team and probably a handful of eastern teams.

If Dubas were to take a call from another team not specified I’m sure he would go back to Marleau to see if he would agree if Dubas liked the deal.

Well Jost is a RFA, his team have years of NHL control over hem. But teams shouldn't overpay for a upcoming UFA "hoping he resigns". I kinda like the Leafs defence coming into 2020/21. Reilly, Dermot, Sandin, Liljegren, maybe Rosen, Duszak but Leafs have the Muzzin cap space and the Zaitsev cap space for some flexibility . I'm not big on numbers players. But Kadri a 2C? To me he isn't a creative enough centre. His two 30 goals season. 13 goals per season were scored as LW on the PP with Matthews and Nylander as line mates.

The problem with muzzin/Rielly was muzzin just arrived and was trying to get acquainted with a very different system. I do agree I don’t like Rielly on the right but he is efficient there, just more of a threat on the left. But if you don’t like Rielly there (who played the right sides for years) how are you going to feel about Gunbarsson or chiarot?

Best case scenario is they get muzzin working on the right. He has a laser beam one timer that could be utilized.

Nemeth, yeah he has nothing but shut down. Big stay at home guy. should be fairly cheap.

Replacing zaitsev isn’t as easy as it sounds is it? It’s almost like maybe he is good or something.,,

I think one of Sandin or Liljergen will replace Muzzin on the roster but not necessarily his spot once Muzzin is ufa

I think Kadri can still perform

Personally I think Colorado is the perfect partner. But it’s most likely going to be a retained salary trade.especially if they are able to land some ufa’s.
